NO Movement today????????

by Lance06, Sep 23, 2008 02:04PM
I know that I am probably just a worry wart, but this concerns me that I have felt movement for the past week and it is wonderful. However, I have not felt ANY movement at all today, and this worries me, because normally I feel it during the day at work and I can tell when the baby is moving around in there.
Is it normal to go through spirts of not feeling anything???
I guess Im just concerned and dont want anything bad to happen!

Any thoughts??? Is this normal???

How far along are you?? It's normal in the beginning stages of baby movement for it to be random, as baby has tons of room to move around still (for instance, sometimes they rest towards the back and it's hard to feel anything.) That randomness lasted until around week 30 for me, at which point his movements became really regular and predictable. The best thing you can do is do a kick count. Chug a glass of ice water, or have some sugar (chocolate usually works for my little guy.) If you can, lay on your left side for 1/2 hr to an hour. The important thing is to concentrate fully on your belly. You should feel at least several movements in an hour.

I understand your worries.... at 27 weeks I hadn't felt movement all morning and totally freaked out, so I called my doc and they had me come in 2 hours later for an ultrasound. Baby was totally fine, he was moving around on the ultrasound screen but was doing a lot of "twirling" and it was hard to feel. More than likely, your baby is fine too.... but if it makes you feel better, don't hesitate to call your doctor/doctor's office.

I am 20 weeks tomorrow....

At 20 weeks your baby is still very small.... as a matter of fact I didn't feel ANY baby movements until week 20. I thought I'd never feel him! lol... So, I really wouldn't worry too much at this point, it's normal to have spurts of lots of movement then nothing at all for awhile. But again, listen to your instincts - and if you need to call your doc, do it! Thats what they're there for. :)

I know where you're coming from as I lost my first pregnancy last Dec....I'm almost 29 weeks now.....When I was around 20 weeks I went almost a whole weekend without feeling anything and was scared to death, but then the next morning he started squirmed all over the place again.....Like the others said though, at this point that baby is still pretty tiny.......
Some say that if your drink OJ (I throw it up) that will get the baby moving...And for me, every time I lay on my back now he really goes crazy!

I wouldn't be too concerned with the movements at 20 weeks. I actually didn't start feeling any movement until my 21st week, and even then it was very random. My whole pregnancy my son hardly moved and i was always so worried, but he was resting more towards the back and the doctors kept telling me that everything was perfectly fine.
Don't stress yourself out because i'm sure that everything is perfectly fine.

Its just weird because I felt movement everyday for an entire week, and then all of a sudden, nothing yesterday, and still nothing today. Just makes me worried to not be able to feel it.....makes me feel like there is something wrong...
Unfortunately, I cant handle OJ with pregnancy, the acidity makes me get sick! ugh...
Hopefully I will feel the baby again soon..
I have my u/s for anatomy tomorrow so I am sure my mind will be at ease when I can see the baby again and see that he/she is doing okay!

Thanks for your responses.

This is my post from September of 2009, just so you know its an old post..but I am happy to respond....
If you have not felt your baby move in two days, I would call the doctor. They can do whats called a non-stress test to see whats going on with the baby!

If you are not feeling movememnts that you are used to feeling, i would definetley call the doctor and see what their opinion is!

also, try eating or drinking something with some sugar...that may get the little babe to move around!

Ice water usually gets my little bub moving around as well but I would call your OB if you havent felt any movement in 2 days.
