I have a bit of a situation here and I have NO IDEA what else to do.
My daughter is a year old and at night she pees like a pregnant woman!!
I've tried cutting her off of liquids a few hours before bed and she STILL pees a gallon!
I can't use regular diapers anymore because they all leak at night, I have to buy the Pamper's Overnights because they're the only ones that'll keep from leaking all over her and her bed while she's sleeping.
You should SEE that diaper when she wakes up!
It's so heavy it's practically hanging down to her knees
!!!
When I take it off the diaper I swear to god has to weigh ATLEAST a pound or so!
This morning when she woke up she had a WICKED bad rash.
It was a real deep rich red and she had white bumps or hives kinda like when you're outside in freezing temperatures
It didn't seem to bother her cuz I cleaned her up and then I touched them trying to check them out, and she just laid there babbling away like she usually does. Never fussed or cried.
The hive looking things were on her low buttcheeks and her inner thighs where the edges of the diaper would be touching.
It looked REAL painful
So I caked on some of this diaper rash cream that's made by equate that actually works BETTER than actual Desatin because it has I think like %15 more of the ingredient that's in Desatin to clear up the rash.
About an hour later I check her and the rash was COMPLETELY gone.
Like nothing ever happened.
???
She never gets a diaper change in the middle of the night anymore unless she wakes up.
I can't wake her up to change her because I've tried that before trying to keep her diapers from leaking at night, and she refuses to go back to bed and sits there and throws tantrums
cuz she wants to get out of her crib and play.
From what I understand from being told, most kids her age don't wake up for night-time diaper changes anyways.
So I don't understand why Ivy's having an issue with this.
I just dunno what to do anymore.
She just pees sooooo much at night and there's no stopping it.
yeah Kahlan's using the huggies overnites, i found them to be slightly more absorbent and they don't have any of the smell-good things that pampers uses so they don't cause skin problems as often...just cake her with that equate diaper rash stuff before bed (it IS better!) or maybe vaseline and try changing her RIGHT before she falls asleep. we have to do that with Kahlan because if we change her and she doesn't fall asleep for an hour or so, then by the time she wakes up she's leaked because so much time has passed. Gooood luck!
Yeah I had the same thing with my little guy...i tried so many different brands of diapers and he still woke up soaked...I am usually avidly against huggies brand...but I tried their overnights and we are 7 days without a leak!!! He also goes poo every morning after he wakes up and so we had some real messes but now the overnights hold his gallon of pee and his morning poo!!
Don't know what to do about the diaper problem, but the diaper rash sounded to me like it may be a yeast rash. If it doesn't go a way in a day or two I'd see the doctor they can give you some prescription cream for it. DS gets them all the time and the doc said it would probably be something he gets til he's potty trained. I think it's from him peeing in his diaper at night and sitting in it til he wakes up.
Thanks ladies.
I guess I'll just try to cake the stuff on before bed to keep it from irritating her skin. See how that works out.
smjmekg ~ It did clear up after one application of the equate version of Desatin
It's deff not a yeast rash because she's gotten a few of them over this past year, and I know what to look for and when it's appropriate to use her yeast rash cream the doc perscribed her.
Honestly, I really sat and thought about it earlier and it doesn't surprise me now that she's getting alot of irritation down there.
She has eczema and gets break-outs on her legs. I don't have ezcema (eczema) but it does run in my family.
I'm also fair-skinned and get irritated very easily. I get yeast rashes, razor burn and heat rash VERY easily and have to use expensive creams, powders and shaving things to help prevent things like that from happening to me.
I think now that she's getting older her skin is turing like how mine is and is more prone to irritating things LIKE sitting in a diaper all night long, whereas others it won't usually bother them.
If nothing else works I guess I'll have to phone the doctor and ask him.
