No heartbeat

No heartbeat

I had an u/s today and I'm 5 weeks and 5 days but couldn't see a baby or hear the heartbeat.  Is that normal?  I had a miscarriage 4 years ago and have been trying to conceive since than. So I am very scared. Anyone else ever been through this, please help.

It can be too early. At 6 weeks all they could see for me was the fetal pole and yolk sac. It is still very early, did they book another ultrasound or bloodwork?

hi... i'm sorry about your miscarriage.. 5 weeks is a bit early to see the heartbeat it is usually in the 6th or the 7th week that it's detectable.. i too couldn't see the heartbeat in the first ultrasound..but saw it clearly in my second i was 6 weeks 5 days... don't worry.. just wait for the 7th week and then go for an ultrasound.. i hope u see it.. good luck.. god bless...

Totally agree with the other ladies, When i had a scan at 5wk6d no H/B was seen only a 6mm sac and yolk. My sis in law went for a scan at 6wks and no H/B was seen shes had one weekly (shes now on her 9th week) and she saw the H/B for the first time on Fri so try not to worry sometimes it starts a little later...Good luck...

My doctor wouldn't even schedule an appointment to hear heartbeat and u/s until I was eight weeks because he said that's when your more likely to see and hear anything. Don't stress about your results right now. It is too early. Hopefully your doctor will schedule another time to do these things for you. I'm pretty sure he/she will.

Good luck with your pregnancy. Enjoy this special time in your life. : )

At 5w6d we didn't see a heartbeat at 6w1d we did. 5 weeks is usually too early and this early into pregnancy even a few days can make a huge difference in development.

I just had a sonogram today at 8 weeks on a really cruddy, old machine. Our little gummy bear wasn't very clear. That being said you were just too early to see anything. I hate it when doctors do these sonograms before 7 weeks and cause mommas so much undue stress. Unless you have pain associated with possible ectopic pregnancy I don't think women should be given sonograms this early.
