I found out I was preggers. The nurse wanted me to get Beta quants 72 hors apart. The levels were 572 and then 2462 - quadrupled instead of doubled! Levels were rising quickly so had an ultrasound to make sure it was not ectopicEctopic pregnancy. Not ectopicEctopic pregnancy and the Dr. thinks it's about 5 weeks if she had to guess. Cannot see much of anything but she did see what appeared to be a sac and then a few more (3-5) sacs of the same size near by (but not clustered yet). She said those could be blood-filled sacs of the egg trying to bury itself in the uterus, which is normalNormal saline flush (but no commonCommon cold), it could be multiples, or it could be a molar pregnancy (which is also rare). My uterus is normalNormal saline flush (golf-ball size) for 5 weeks but my elevated hcg levels coupled with the extraExtra strength mylanta calci tabs Extra strength pain relief "sacs" make her think it could be a molar pregnancy. She says has no feeling one way or the other (normal, multiples, or molar), but she did give me a pamphlet about molar pregnancies, which, in turn, makes me think that she thinks it's molar. I still have to wait 2 more weeks for another ultrasound but I am about to go crazy. I have not had any bleeding and feel nothing of the pregnancy except that I have to use the bathroom often. I am also currently breast feeding full-time to our 13 month old son. Every blog I've read about others with molar or suspected molar pregnancies have had much higher hcg levels than i do at this same stage. Does anyone have any advice on this? Anyone gone through something similar?
That is really tough!!! So sorry you're going through this. But WOW if there are multiples!!! First, I think your HCG levels would be much higher with molar pregnancy. But that's my own opinion.
Second, it's still SO early! Give yourself a couple of weeks and get an ultrasound around 8 weeks pregnant unless you experience bright red bleeding and cramping beforehand. *HUGS*
Thank you for the support and advice. I thought the hcg might be higher, but my doctor was still concerned, nonetheless. She even said for me not to tell anyone I am pregnant yet, which makes me even more suspicious. I really am hoping for it to be twins or something - what a double blessing that would be! Maybe God will hear my plea. I'll let you know the outcome.
When I went to the ER for cramping and bleeding, they checked my hcg and did an u/s. They didn't see anything on the u/s and could only tell me the hcg was 364. They said since they couldnt see anything and based on the numbers, I was either early in pregnancy or miscarrying (I figured that one because the bleeding and cramping didnt seem normal). Anyways, the ER doctor said it could also be an ectopic and gave me some printout on ectopic pregnancies. I ended up m/c'ing but my point is sometimes they give you information so they know they did their job in informing you. Obviously they don't have a pamphlet on carrying multiples - even though if you are I'm sure you'd wish there was one (a pamphlet that is) - LOL. As hard as it is, just relax until you know exactly what's going on. Like Joy said, if you do have any bleeding or cramping you arne't sure about definitly go to the ER or call your doctor. I don't know much about molar pregnancies, but I think your doctor is just covering all the basis. Keep us posted - good luck.
Thanks. That, too, is reassuring. I've just read many great posts on http://www.medhelp.org/posts/show/157585 that gave me peace of mind - doctors can be wrong and prayer can overcome all.
Wow it could be multi, increase chances of multi when breastfeeding:)
I dont recall what my sister hcg levels were, but she had a molar pregnancy, at almost 4 months, she started bleeding and that is when she found out at er.
I hope everything works out for you and i will keep you in my prayers
Just an update! All is well! yea! Had another ultrasound today and the little bean (yes, just one) is growing well. 7 weeks and 0 days (due April 14th) Heartbeat is 136, and no sign of any other sacs - good or bad! Yea! :) Thank you so much for all the prayers!
