Ok to use OTC acne medicine?

by kc1021, Jan 12, 2009 10:10PM
I am about 12 weeks pregnant with my second baby and Im wondering what other woman have done about breaking out and acne during pregnancy. I seem to break out during my pregnancies and I remember when I was pregnant with my son my doctor told me it was ok to use over the counter acne medication, like Clearasil.  I have been using Clearasil a little bit this time around, but I feel like there are mixed messages about using OTC acne creams.   What has anyone done about acne during pregnancy?

i think some of them are ok and some of them are not. Look at the active ingredient in them and look em up on the net.

You cannot use salycilic acid products...benzoyle peroxide products are fine...check the active ingredient.

I would check with your dr, even though there are some you can take, my dr didnt want me to use any, she suggested anitbacterial soap, it helped lessen the break outs with the decrease of drinking soda and increasing water intake.
