Ovulating on my period??????

I have always heard that you cant ovulate on your period but i went to the doctor on 10-12-08 and that was the first day of my period (my periods have been messed up since i gave birth in august) but anyways they did an altersound and i was to O in two days. but i was on my period???? i dont get it....... i seem to have gotton pregnant twice before on my period too. now its 1-20-09 and i still havent gotton pregnant. what can i do??? am i wrong and trying on the wrong time? can to much sex cause you not to get pregnant??? i am so boggled!LOL!! can anyone help please.

If you have irregular cycles then you wouldn't ovulate at the "normal" time so it wouldn't be weird to ovulate to ovulate on your period. Do you get periods every two weeks? They way that it works is that you ovulate about 12-16 days BEFORE the first day of your period. So if you ovulated on your period that would be that you have one every two weeks. To maybe figure out the bed time to BD would to try purchasing an ovulation prediction kit.

ever since august my periods have either skipped a month or been off by a few days. the last three months it has came atleast once a month but never on time. so ovulating on my period could be normal for me???  where can you get the vulation prediction kit?? how much are they? thank you :)

You can get them for like 20 dollars at walmart. The kit usually has like 7-10 tests so that the week you believe you are ovulating you can check everyday until you get an LH surge. Only problem is if you have irregular periods it may be hard to guess which week is the lucky one. I'm not sure your financial situation but if your able to get one every week until you ovulate then it could work that way but it might be a little expensive. :(

I wanted to add what Alaysha said. Sometimes a surge will only show for maybe 8 hrs. so if you were to test in the morning but O'd at night you may miss it.

this article made me so happy!! i just read maybe ten very depressing ones!! Ive been ttc since oooh october 2006....its now may 2011... im worried because im a young woman and my husband I badly want a baby. There are soo many parents out there that dont deserve to be and a couple like us would do anything in the world for a baby and give him or her everything they ever wanted or needed. But here we are.. Im worried I dont ovulate at all and have never ovulated. I took the strips and I bought an expensive saliva reusable test. the saliva test you can wash anduse each morning. Well I used both for about five months (a year ago) and nothing not even a remotely close positive or even close to the maybe picture at all. Disapointing!! well, I made a gyno appointment to ask some questions about this. But im worried Ill never experience being a mom! :( :( Im so tired of crying when I start my period every month.. Any ideas? Ive tried dieting, excersicing more no caffine no sugar more vitamins, even herbal drugs from vitamon world (called vitex) nothing has worked. We even read up on the best positions to get pregnant. and then trying to do a headstand on a waterbed to keep it in!! (sry to share so much! they said it may help) nothing!! im so upset with this i thought trying for a baby would be alot more enjoyable...help??
