Ovulation with no period

by Atia_Julii, Feb 27, 2008 07:26AM
Since stopping the pill, I have failed to get my period.  I'm guessing it's just going to take a while to get back to regular, as I was always regular before going on the pill.  Someone on this mb said that without a period, one can't get pregnant, but I've read many sources saying that many people ovulate even though they hardly ever get their periods.  With that being said, I would love answers to the following questions:

1.  How do you track ovulation when you aren't getting your periods?
2.  If the answer to tracking ovulation is ovulation predictor kits, when would I even use one?  I heard the kits only have a few pee sticks, so wouldn't I at least have to estimate approximately when I thought I would ovulate, and how to I do that without periods?

Now I just found conflicting information on the internet saying no period = no ovulation.  There are too many darn sources out there.  Anyone know for sure?

My sister got pregnant without a period.  I know they "say" you can't, but we know for a FACT that she did... she had a healthy lil baby boy!

How did you know when you were ovulating if your periods were irregular?  Or did you just get lucky? :-D  It also seems like if periods aren't happening, it would take longer to find out you were pregnant, because usually the missed period is the first indication.

For 9 months on this new pill my periods were non existant. I had 7 days pill free but no withdrawal bleed.

I didnt ever expect to fall pregnant as i was on the pill and never missed a single one.

I didnt find out i was expecting until i had serious cramping at 6 and a half weeks and i decided to have the coil fitted! Only sign i had was extremely sore nipples but this went away.

Im 14 weeks 2 days accoding to last scan.

Biggest shock of my life and was unsure what to do (whether to keep the baby or not) but i am and i cant wait to meet my little hippo :)
