Ovulation

by Mea426, Jul 03, 2008 02:19PM
Ok ladies well I had to cancell my appt with the specialist because my DH couldn't come with to the appt. So now I'm having to wait a few months since I'm changing jobs and my inscurance doesn't kick in till after the 90 days is over. Ugh!! Anyway my question is I've noticed I ovulate like right after I end my period. I know everyone is defferent but is this normal? I mean I thought we were most fertile 2 weeks after our period and it seems to me that I'm ovulating seriouslly like a few days later. Anyway I'm not sure if anyone can answer that for me or if anyone else does this. The other thing is how would I know if I have a screwed up luteal phase? Thanks a bunch!! Hope all you girls are doing great!!

The best advice I can give you as to know for certain when you ovulate and how long your luteal phase is is to chart your temps.  I'm not sure if you are already doing that or not, but that is what I would recommend.  And if you start now, you will have something to show your doc when you do have your appt.  So, you will kind of be ahead of the game by having a few cycles under your belt.  I would think that charting would be the first thing a doc would have you do.  Fertility Friend is a wonderful website for that.

Good luck!!

Also, you usually ovulate 2 weeks before your NEXT period, which is why it's hard to tell because you can't predict the future.  But if you can figure out how long your cycle is and track your temps it will be easier to figure out.

Yeah I haven't been doing that but I think I'm going to start. Do I need to buy anything special to do this?

I never did it, only heard of what other women did.  But I think you just need a thermometer and take your temps daily, at the same time everyday and chart them.  I think your temps rise when you ovulate and then go back down after (but I think they stay up if you are pregnant).  Don't take my word on all that, I would find out who has done it and how they do it.  But I think if you go to fertily friends website, you'll get a lot of information plus they can help you track it.  You can also track your temps on this site using the ovulation tracker.  Good Luck!

Just get a BBT thermometer.  You can get one from Walgreens for $8-$10.  That's all you need.  You can actually use a regular thermometer but the BBT thermometers are more sensitive and may be your best bet.  You can chart on FF for free.

When charting, you should take your temp everyday at the same time and it should be before getting out of bed in the morning.  I recommend setting an alarm for the weekends if you get up earlier during the week.  That's what I do.  I have my thermometer on my night stand and as soon as the alarm goes off, I take my temp.  I wasn't sure what you knew about charting, so I just wanted to give you some tips :)
