Post Weaning

by Beeps763, Aug 06, 2008 11:41PM
I stopped breastfeeding 8 months ago now and although my breasts dont leak on their own, my husband is still getting some fluid out of them during sex.  Should I be on some kind of medication to help dry them out or is this something that'll go away on it's own? We're planning on trying for the 2nd baby in the next few months, so would like to be back to normal before then.  Would love your advice.  Thanks!

I think it is something that will go away on it's on.

I haven't had a baby yet, but I know that my mom had this happen for months after she stopped breast feeding my sister.  She leaked at the most random times.  So, I would say its totally normal and they will "dry up" on there own :)  I am sure its really annoying at this point, though! ;)

As long as your breasts still sees stimulation, they will continue to make milk.  Don't let him squeeze on them to get any fluid out for a while.  This will help dry them up.  As long as something is coming out your breasts will continue to replenish whatever has come out.

I stopped nursing my last one about 5 months ago.  If I were to squeeze, I would be able to get some drops of milk but I def couldn't nurse a baby now.  With all my pregnancies it has been that way; even up to a couple of years between babies.  So, it's normal and won't keep you from conceiving when you are ready.

With my first son 6 years ago I could get something out by squeezing 2 years later.  It will eventually completely dry up but could take a considerable amount of time.
