Potty Training Insanity! HELP!

by natemomma27, Sep 08, 2008 12:33PM
As some know I am currently 20wks pregnant with my 3rd son. I am blessed to be a stay-at-home Mom and spend a lot of time with my children. I began potty training my 1st son when he was almost 3, but had such trouble doing so. I think the stress of the arrival of my 2nd son threw him off and he also has Asperger's Syndrome which I'm sure played some part in it all. Potty training didn't 'click' for him until just recently and he is now 4 y/o.

Now my 2nd son is 22 months and I'd like to start trying to potty train him BEFORE the baby arrives in January. I have the little potty in the living room and let him play with it and get used to it and today I took off his diaper and sat him on it for a few minutes while he played with a book just to get the idea. What else should/can I do? Should I start the pull-ups right away or take the diaper every 2 hours or so and have him just sit there? Go straight to underpants so he knows when he's wet?

It was so costly to have two children in diapers so I REALLY want to eliminate that problem when the new baby arrives! Any adivce/tips would be greatly apprecitated!

Im going thought the same thing, But i was not able to get him potty train before the baby came, And now its like starting all over again. At 1st he didnt want to do it and wanted to be in diapers like the baby! so try your best to get him potty trained now.LOL

in the beinging I would put him on the potty like every hour maybe every half an hour, and gave him a treat after he did it.and once he got the hang of that, we started with big boy undies but the prob. there is that he would still pee in them So now I just let him run around the house with nothing on but a t-shirt. and he goes now everytime on the potty, so hopfully he will get the hang of it/..

My son is 2 yrs old and when we started potty training i would just let him run around with just his shirt so he could find out what was going on when he went to the bathroom and then i just went straight to the underwear and now he is fully potty trained and only wears a diaper at bedtime.
The potty training only took about 6 mths or so.
I m glad he is because i am due with a girl in dec. Good Luck hope it goes well.
