Pregnancy after miscarriage, should I test?

by MissmumK, Sep 21, 2008 06:48PM
I had a miscarriage about 3.5 weeks ago. I got the all clear from my doctor straight away so we decided to start trying as soon as the bleeding stopped. I was only 5 weeks pregnant when I m/c and I didn't need a d&c. I've been getting some symptoms over the last few days, being tired, tingling nipples/let down sensation.  The same symptoms as I had when I was waiting to find out last time.  Going to bed early has been helping. I'm not too sure if I should take an early hpt, if I do get my period its due on Friday.  My husband says I should wait and I probably should... but I'm so damn excited that I probably wont... what should I do??!!!

You can test now and if it is negative then you can wait until friday and test again. Or you could do what I did when I thought I was pregnant. go buy a weeks worth of pregnancy tests from the dollar store and test everyday!

Did your levels ever go back to zero. Its possible if you test and get a positive it could be because your levels never went back to zero. And when is your cycle due, sometimes after m/c's your cycle dont come when it is suppose to. You could test, but i would do a blood test to determine if levels are hi and going up, just incase your levels never went to zero after the m/c.  Good luck

I to had a m/c at 5 weeks (June 2,2008) i didnt have to have a dnc either....with in 2 weeks i was preggo again...when i took the test and it came out pos i was scared and all i done was cried. I was happy to be preggo again but i had just lost one so i was nervious. Well i then went to the doctor had the hcg level taken and they confirmed that i was again...Im sorry to say that July 24,2008 i lost that one also i was 6 weeks....I didnt have a dnc with the 2nd one either...But the doctor said to wait....not to get preggo again so soon again... I found out why i was m/c mine my progestrone level never went up while i preggo....So we are trying again...After my 2nd m/c i didnt get a cycle again for 6 weeks so even if you take a preggo test and it is pos make a doctors appt and get a hcg test done ....good luck....oh i test again next week to see if we are preggo again and i have also been put on Prometrium (progestrone Supplements) just in case we are that way we can stay preggo..........good luck to you

Thank you everyone. I did a test today and it was a definite negative, I knew I couldn't wait, not even the slightest positive.. so I'll test again next week and see how we go...  best of luck to you too LadyTiger! I'm very blessed already to have 2 beautiful children, my daughter is almost 5 and my son will be 2 on Friday...  we wanted to have the same age gap between the next one as we did the first 2 but we'll see how we go...
