Pregnant six weeks after d&c?

hey so im new to this. i was pregnant with my first bub until 10 weeks..found out its little heart stopped beating at 12 weeks. i had a d&c on 12th Dec, 6 weeks ago. My hubby and I were really upset as we had grown a bit attached. We wernt interested in using any kind of contreception after the d&c and thought wed see what happens...as ive tried to conceive for a year now and thought nothing would happen so soon. My hcg was taken 3 weeks past d&c and it was apparently at 20. i never got told this and at 6 weeks post d&c.. i took a hpt and it came up really positive and i just thought it was left over hcg so i was really bummed. today i went to the docs and she said its very possible it could be  a new pregnancy especially beacause my hcg was 20 three weeks ago. i dont understand..how long does hcg take to come down? and does anyone know if this sounds right? I have all the pregnancy symptoms except sore boobs.

it is quite possible you are pregnant again. i had a miscarriage 2 years ago and i didn't want to have a d&c b/c my doc. told me it was much better if everything could heal on its own. so we waited it out. i misscarried in the hospital jan. 1 2006. i got to go home later on that evening b/c the doc said she was pretty sure that nature had ran it's course. i had to have a follow up with my obgyn just to make sure. so i saw her on jan. 3rd and my hcg hormone was still looking like i was pregnant. she clearly told me that she would give it another 2 days to clear up but if it didn't in 2 days i needed to go ahead and have the d&c b/c i could develop a severe infection if any tissue was left inside. well, 2 days later i went back to have my hcg levels checked and everything was back to normal. so i didn't have to have one. point of my terribly long story is, if your docs thought that there was leftover tissue from the previous baby they would probably want to take a look at that. like i said, the remaining tissue (if there is in fact tissue remaining) could cause you to have a severe bacterial infection so you might need to get that checked out to make 100% sure everything is ok. hope that was helpful.

sorry i didn't answer your question above. it took about 4 days for my hcg levels to disipate and i didn't even have a d&c so yours probably would've lowered right after your d&c. chances are you are preggo!!! get it checked out!

right after d and c my levels were in the 30's.  then 2 weeks later they were 7.  so they do go down rather quickly.  I believe they have to be back down to 0 for you to ovulate again.

I too had a d and c back on 10/12/07.  Now as of today, i am somewhere between 6-7 weeks pregnant again.  I am very nervous but happy all at once.

Hope everything works out.  HAve the doctor run your hcg levels now and if they double in under 72 hours, then you are prgenant again

I had a D&C on 12/10 (gosh girls...sounds like Dec. 2007 was a BAD month :o( and my Hcg levels were <10 only 3 days after.  I believe that they drop faster after a D&C, rather than a natural M/C, due to them making sure that everything is cleaned out......So it sounds like you definately might be pregnant again!  Send some babydust my way please!  LOL!  Best wishes...and be sure to let us know what you find out!

I got pregnant 6 1/2 weeks after my D & C.  I am now almost 22 weeks with a healthy baby boy!!!

OMG i went to the docs today for my hcg results and she said they had gone up from 20 to 1400 so she thinks im preggo again which is such great news! I'm really scared as I am feeling no morning sickness and havent got sore boobs...is it too early to have these symptoms? thanks guys for ur reassuring advice....Babydust to everyone!!!!
