Problem with our baby's development

by A_Woodard, Jan 21, 2009 10:45PM
I am having a problem with our baby boy...I'm supposedly 26 weeks pregnant, but at our first ultrasound I was 23 weeks pregnant but the ultrasound readings were showing a 21 week developed baby.  We went to a specialist and the ultrasound he did showed the same results....I was 25 weeks but the baby was at 23 weeks.  I also got a ultrasound at six weeks and got a due date of May 1st 2009.  But it doesn't add up and I couldn't have conceived on the day they think it was...Could it be that my baby is just small and i'm worrying too much, or is my due date actually wrong? (The specialist gave me a due date of May 14th)

Babies all grow at their own rates, even in the womb, so not every baby will be "textbook". So long as he looks healthy and everything else is fine I wouldn't worry about it! He'll probably just be a smaller or more average-sized baby. Plenty of time for him to catch up!

Thanks...I read some comments from others on here and a woman delivered two babies with the same exact problem...they were completely developed at birth, just a little smaller but still just as healthy

It's not uncommon for a due date to change with different ultrasounds. It happened to me too. Don't worry about it. I'm sure your doctor would have told you if there was anything to worry about. Congratulations on your baby boy!

my lil girl was always quite smalle and i had to have sooo many U/S because of her growth (hence Dr was worried that she wasnt getting as big as she should) but Thank God she came out 100% healthy and is quite tall and looks older then her age now (she is 2 yrs and 10 months)

soo dont worry as long as Dr didn't have any concerns.

Yeah the Doc said he looked completely healthy, just too small for his age, I think he is gonna be fine...
