Progesterone >90 at Day 21 with Negative Pregnancy Test at Day 26

by pussycat617, Apr 03, 2008 01:32AM
I had my annual pap last week with a Day 21 Progesterone level drawn.  My OB/GYN started me on Clomid two months ago at 50mg. days 5-9, and I had a Day 18 progesterone of 15 about ten months ago with no fertility medication.  I was put on Clomid to boost my chances of pregnancy.  Doctor's nurse called yesterday and said my progesterone was in the 90's and could I possibly be pregnant since this level was triple what they expected.  All home pregnancy tests are coming up negative at day 26; period not due for two more days.  I got scared when she said I needed to come in and have an ultrasound for cysts due to the fact that if I was pregnant an hpt should have tested positive before my period due to the high progesterone level.  During my recent pelvic exam there was no unusual pain associated with my ovaries on palpation, and nothing out of the ordinary was found.  I've had a history of cysts at times, and they usually self-resolve.  When I DO have a cyst, you can't touch my ovaries or get anywhere near them without me going through the ceiling, they are so painful.  No pain noticed recently, other than what seemed like a very long and painful ovulation out of my left ovary around day 15.  Can multiple cysts from OHSS (?) ovarian hyperstimulation syndrome on Clomid cause such a sharp rise in progesterone without a pregnancy?  Does progesterone rise with ovarian cancer?  I'm sure you can tell I'm scared to death.  Twins run on both sides of my family, and I have two brothers who are twins.  Is it possible to be pregnant but not far enough along to register on a home pregnancy test?  My doctor is going to do a blood test for pregnancy just to make sure.  Additionally, I started having breast tenderness last week and wake up 3-4 times a night to urinate, which is highly unusual for me.  Could this be caused by either the Clomid or an early-stage pregnancy?  Thank you for this forum.  I have been on the internet for the better part of today, and your forum is the FIRST place I found where other women posed the same question and ended up pregnant with twins and triplets.  Thanks in advance.  Just send me the bill!!
