Question about CM

by Limonada, May 05, 2009 07:39PM
I'm at CD 17 of a 29 day cycle.  It's probably TMI, but I've been having a lot of WET CM, both yesterday and today.  Well, yesterday was more creamy (and DH and I BD'd), but today it's more wet.  No stringy CM like eggwhites.  Does this mean I'm not ovulating?  I typically know when I am by how I feel - I have mild cramps, sort of like premenstrual cramps only they are much less painful - and I've been having some of those, even without CM like eggwhites.....

Hmmm... did you already have EWCM this cycle? If not then the CM you have right now could BECOME the fertile, clear CM. As your cervix softens in preparation for ovulation (to allow sperm through) the CM starts off cloudy, white, yellowish, sticky, tacky, gummy, etc. When it becomes clear and stringy like raw egg whites then you're in your fertile period.

The last day of EWCM is the actual day you ovulate. Since you won't know what day that will be until retro-spect my rule is to always have sex when you have mucous. Doesn't matter if it isn't EWCM.

After you ovulate about how many days does it take for your period to start? If it is less than 10 days you may want to talk to your OBGYN about supplements/vitamins you can take to lengthen your luteal phase (the time between ovulation and your period).

Otherwise it could be that you're ovulating late this cycle.

Thanks, Joy :-)

I typically have a 14 day luteal phase - which is why having this discharge now, a bit later, seems a bit weird.  I actually hadn't had much discharge this cycle, until these last 2 days.

I'm pretty healthy and I've been religiously taking my multivitamin and extra folic acid.....so it's probably just some fluky thing.

Awww, okay! I never know how much someone knows until I share. Luteal phase sounds great!

It sounds like you might be ovulating late, though I know some women don't have noticeable EWCM some months. Fingers crossed for you!

Just so you know, it could be your DH "CM".DH and I BD last night and my CM was a little stretchy/wet/creamy yesterday and I checked today and it was wet, clear, and kinda stretchy...I've read on some sites to be sure to note that it could be some of his little soldiers coming out still instead of your CM. Not to make you lose hope that it is yours and you are about to O...I'm in the same boat....I'm hoping yesterday it was me instead of him...I was feeling o pain the last few days. Good luck to you! SSBD!!!
