Sore throat and nausea

by rachie204, Mar 19, 2008 08:43PM
Anyone know what would cause a sore throat and nausea in a 4 year old?  My son has been saying he felt like he was going to throw up for the past 2 or 3 days now but hasn't, and now says he feels like he is going to throw up and also said his throat is scratchy,  I cant think of anything that would cause both....

yeah the flu is going aroun up here in chicago as well as the strep throat which i see everyday at the clinic i can't tell you the number of strep test and culture that i do and run you wouldn't beleive it. hope he feels better but all of those sign and symptoms tell me strep and or the flu with little kids they get the nasuea and fever runny nose and very scratchy sore throat try to give him a warm salt water gargle to soothe the throat. hope  that will make the little one feel better. this darn flu.

If he has a runny nose and is feeling nausious and has a sore throat, I would say that he has like a post nasal drip that is making him feel sick at his stomach.  As long as he hasn't ran a fever and his nose runs clear, I think you would be alright just to give some over the counter meds for a couple of days.  If he starts to really complain of nasuea, give him some emetrol for it.  This will help.
