I was just like you. I was terrified to go and have an ultrasound until after I was 12 weeks because I have had 2 miscarriages, and I was sooooo scared the doctor would not see anything. However, everything turned out great, I am almost 38 weeks. You are getting much closer. They have already seen the heartbeat right? Once that happens, you have about a 95% chance of carrying the baby. I know its nerve racking, and every little pain you feel you are about to have another one, but try and relax. If you are a spiritual person, pray for your baby, and tell him everyday how much you love him and want him.

It depends on the reason for the first miscarriage...if it was chromosomal abnormality or something else caused it such as stress, car accident etc.  THen your chances the second time around are no more so than they would be ANY time you get pregnant. 1 in 4 pregnancies end in miscarriage either knowingly or unknowingly (ie: before you even knew you were pregnant)

If there was something like hormone levels causing the miscarraige and you haven't done anything to correct it then your chances would be higher.

I have been pregnant 7 times..if you look under my profile you can see the order.  Two of them were miscarriages.

I know it's hard to NOT worry but the more you let this stress you the more the stress will affect your body and the baby.  Try to relax.  IT's always the hardest around the time you previously miscarried.  NOTHING is going to give you the reassurance you need until you are PAST that point.

My last miscarriage was this past aug and I am now almost 18 wks.

Hey hon! I had a baby after a miscarriage and she'll be 1 year old next month. My pregnancy with her was HARD in the sense that I was worried constantly. Everyone does it.

The chances of miscarrying a second time are the same for any pregnant woman. There is a 25% chance of miscarriage (1 in 4 pregnancies ends in m/c). You do not have a higher risk of miscarrying just because you've had one already.

Please try to enjoy this time! It's natural to worry and wonder what is going to happen. I can't wait to hear you asking questions about labor when you hit the 3rd trimester!!!

I've had 2 miscarriages (just had second 2/16/08) due to abnormal chromosomes.  Which is what they diagnose most first trimester miscarriages.  I am seeing a RE and having testing done because I don't want to go through another miscarriage.  My RE told me your chances do not change at all of having a miscarriage.  I didn't like that so that is why we are doing the testing.  If the testing comes back normal and we have another miscarriage, it will be hard, but at least we know we just have to keep trying and that nothing is wrong....it's just timing.
