Strep B

Strep B

My husband has an enlarged prostate and they found strep b in his sperm.  I remember testing postitive for strep b in my first pregnancy.  Did I give this to my husband?  Can it be passed sexually and what does this mean now that I am pregnant again?

I don't know how it is contracted but all they will do is give you a couple doses of  IV antibiotics before you deliver the baby

Or maybe he gave it to you.  I don't know how strep b works, but that could be a possibility too.  Although, like I said, I don't know if it is sexually transmitted.

Like nursekim said, you need to be on antibiotics... I am sure you did this with your first pregnancy too.  Obviously, let your doctor know that you have strep b so they can take the proper precautions.

although you had strep b the first time you were pregnant you dont necessarily have it this time.. So your doctor will most likely test you again. I dont believe that it is sexually transmitted it is just something that you can have and once treated it goes away and can come back. I believe its just bacterial.. but again because you had it in your first pregnancy does not mean you will have it again.

Idk I have strep b never heard of it running through the family I'm starting to wonder if I caught it from my b/f or maybe he's caught it from someone else I'm 37 weeks pregnant and very scared for my son so I really think that its sexually transmitted cause I've never had it in my last pregnancy

Strep B is NOT a sexually transmitted desease. Its actually carried by both men and women and somthing that the person is either a carrier of or not. Here is a little more info... If you are Positive then all that will need to be done is have some antibiotics before delivery!

GBS is a naturally occurring bacterium in the human body of both women and men. Since it is commonly found in the vagina, some people wonder whether GBS is a sexually transmitted disease. The answer is "No". GBS bacteria usually do not cause genital symptoms or discomfort and are not linked with increased sexual activity. Women found to carry GBS do not need to change their sexual practices.
