Swollen vagina during second trimester

by petal88, Oct 14, 2008 03:08PM
Hi ladies, hope some of you could help put my mind at rest.  I am 15 1/2 weeks pregnant and for last couple of weeks on and off I have had the feeling of heaviness/swelling in my vagina, most noticable after exercise/walking... almost like I am wearing a tampon.  I know experts say the vagina swells during pregnancy but I would like to hear if anyone has had this sensation as experts don't mention what a swollen vagina feels like! My doctor says it's normal but I need reassurance from other pregnant ladies...  Cannot thank God enough for giving us our little miracle and sometimes I worry about having another m/c when I feel any body change that I haven't read about.  Your replies would be much appreciated.  x

Totally normal and OK.....Blood volume increases by a ton when pregnant...I think that it almost doubles if I remember correctly......I'm almost 32 weeks and have the problem (not a problem, but you know what I mean).......

I am almost 32 weeks pg and since about 12 weeks have experienced the same thing.  My Dr said it is what is called vulvar verscosities (sp?)  I had to buy what is called a V2 support belt, kinda like a jock strap for women.......lol.  It helps so much.  I find the swelling to be worse if I have been on my feet or doing a lot.  I try to make sure I wear the belt if I am going to be out and on my feet a lot.  It cost about $50 but weel worth it.  Ask your Dr. if that could be the case, even if its not the support is a good idea.  Good luck
