Twin A - No Heartbeat, Twin B Alive - Same Placenta

by farzana, Apr 09, 2008 09:18PM
Just this morning (18 Weeks) during ultrasound test Twin A found no heartbeat and Twin B is Alive. Both of them is in the same placenta and sac. Is there any chance for the Twin B's survival ( Normal ) ? Should we check one more Ultrasound Test for the Twin A ??

PLEASE suggest me what to do at my email address.

Thanks and Regards

Get a second opinion and, um, they should tell you what to expect. Good luck!

Did they tell you what caused twin A to be dead? There's a condition called Twin to twin transfusion syndrome (TTTS). If they find twin A is still alive I would be asking them about that just for future references and to make sure that you don't get it in the future. Twin B you could still carry to term, but you will also most likely have to also keep Twin A in there with the other (if twin A is infact not alive) and deliver them both still. But I would ask for an u/s again to see if they were right about no heartbeat on twin A, there's always a chance the baby turned to a bad position they couldn't detect it.

this site has some info on TTTS if you would like to read about it.

Thanks for your suggestions.
We have an appointment in the Elmhurst Hospital today afternoon.
I don't know well if they make the ULTRASOUND test again today as they did on yesterday. We pray to Almighty to keep them safe and sound.

Thanks for your sweet words and prayer...
Unfortunately, Twin A has not heartbeat even today.
Twin B is alive , but no assurance of her Normal Birth or Life.

May Almighty keep them safe ... We should expect something Miracle from HIM
