UUGGH NOT AGAIN!! Read:

by martikadragoon, Jul 22, 2008 01:11AM
Well, I was real stupid this last couple days and haven't been drinking enough water. I've been trying to make myself drink more but haven't been able to, If I drink too much water I throw it up.

Tomorrow I've got to call my OBGYN because all day today TJ's movement has been VERY minimal, even during his active phase, I was able to do a "kick count" that was accurate and ok earlier, but I tried one again tonight and NADA maybe a few bumps but nothing more.
Then tonight I noticed I'd been having BH ctx. and started timing them.... Well, they're consistantly 6 min. apart, I had like 4 like that, So I drank a big cup of water, and I'm about to drink another to see if it stops them. If It doesn't I'm gonna call my OBGYN TONIGHT!

Thank goodness I'm almost 32.5w

IDK if you remember but about 2 weeks ago I was in the hospital for dehydration. So its worrying me and I'm going to stay up another hour to track them and see if they stop.

I hope everything is ok.  Did they ease up?  Let us know how you are doing.

Try eating watermelon or cantaloupe they have lots of water in it. You can even make juice and blend it with lots of ice and make a sorbet like thing that you can eat with a spoon. Hope everything is ok!

Dehydration is one of the main culprits of making BH worse and more frequent. That's probably what was causing yours. Make sure you drink water slowly (sip it, don't down it) so that you won't get as nauseated, and also so that the water has time to get into your organs. Chugging water just forces water into your digestive system and doesn't really hydrate you completely. Drink w/a straw if it helps you drink slower. And marcardb had great advice about eating high-water content fruit... melons and grapes are great. Popsicles are great too, especially now during the hot months! If you get sick of plain water, try extra ice or try putting a couple fresh lemon (or lime, if you prefer) wedges in your water. I hope everything is going okay....

Ladies: Sorry I took so long to respond. I stayed up for about 45-60min after I wrote that. I drank approx. 40oz of water and litrally 5 min. later or so after I finished the BH stopped completely.

Little TJ didn't move much last night or today, but this morning I drank a small cup of coffee and that got him going some. I'm gonna ask them to check my amniotic fluid levels on friday since they were at 7cm (barely) at my last appointment 2 weeks ago. I know low fluid can lead to less movement. They weren't worried then but said they'd take another look soon
.
I feel alot better, esp. since I drank the water. I've just got to keep remembering to Drink, drink, drink. Even if I don't feel like it (which I never do)

I'm already not eating enough. 1 big meal a day and 2 small snacks. I get so full so quick. Some days I can eat more, and do but I've started doubling up on my vitamins simply because I KNOW i'm not getting enough nutrients. (I'm careful not to take too many vitamins)

Thanks for the tips on the melon's and grapes! I love frozen grapes! I was just worried last night when the BH's were coming at exactly 6 min. apart. :)

I just keep thinking, 5w4d, 5w4d, 5w4d! lol.

You can also chew on some ice chips.  For some reason it doesn't feel like you're eating water...maybe because of the crunchiness...who knows.  Yes, watermelon is a big one.  I remember having to pee so frequently when I eat it.  Watch out for sugar in the fruit though.

Just wanted to add that if you're sick of plain water (I know I get that way after drinking 3+ glasses a day), you can get some of the flavored water.  Or, you can just add lemon to plain water (but I like the raspberry or strawberry flavored Dasani!  Yum!).  I also tried that  Vitamin Water (kiwi strawberry ..droooool) the other day.  It's pretty tasty!

I LOVE Vitamin water. I can drink the heck out of that!

mami1323~ I can't chew ice chips because they kill my teeth. Thats why I had root canals on my two front teeth. As it is I have to let frozen grapes melt in my mouth and not touch my teeth.

The other thing you can try is have a big cup of water (flavor water etc) and keep it with you all the time that way you will remember and just sip a little at a time while you doing other things.

Marcardb~ I've begun doing that. I carry a pink water jug that holds like 55oz of water in it. I'll fill it with watered down fruit juice or watered down coolaid. (2x extra water) because the taste doesn't bother me in fact it's good. Straight coolaid makes me nauseaus since it's so sweet.

Oh yeah then stay away from ice chips...lol.

the same thing happened to me this past weekend!!! i thought i was drinking enough water turns out i wasn't. the pelvic pressure was 1000000 x's worse then normal and my cramping was turning into contractions and i hadn't felt either boy move all day. well i went to l&d thinking i was in labor but turns out i was just dehydrated. after an iv the contractions stopped and i was sent home. they said if you don't drink enough water and it's hot (it's been in the upper 80's low 90's here) it can cause preterm contractions and uterine irritability. soooo maybe that's what's wrong....definately call your ob though!!

Hey another idea that is really helping me drink more water, is the single packets of flavoring that you add to a bottle of water.  The crystal light ones are really good (fruit punch ones) and the Hawaiian punch brand ones are really good.  And I am pretty sure they are both sugar free.  I can drink a bottle of water like it is nothing.  It sure had helped me.  Just an idea.  Good luck!!
