Uterine lining questions

by TarNDT, Jul 23, 2008 12:50PM
I am 20 yrs old, I conceived my child against all odds(doctors said I did not ovulate) after the pregnancy was confirmed my ob/gyn told me I would not be able to carry this baby to term b/c I had three "holes" or weak spots in my uterus.  With time and the uterus stretching there was a good chance they would tear and I would miscarry.  I am 33 weeks pregnant now and have since moved to another state.  My mom is worried about labor and delivery with the uterus and my new ob/gyn has not done any testing or even looked at my uterus.  I was told in Michigan I was high risk, but in Savannah I am not being treated as if I am.  Are there any tests that need to be performed and what is are the chances of something going wrong in delivery if I carry this baby a full 38 to 40 weeks?  I do not even know the name of the condition they say I have at this point.
Any help you can give would be appreciated, I want to be informed and want to be proactive instead of reactive.

Well it seems like there is nothing wrong with your uterus if you have carried the baby to 33 weeks already.  Did your new ob do a ultrasound?  Perhaps they didn't see anything unusual and that's why they are considering you to be having a "normal" pregnancy.

The best thing I would do would to contact your Old Ob and see if he could send your records to your New Ob. And then you two can go over it together! But if you feel as this New Ob isnt providing what you think you need, I would find a new one!

I tried to look up via Google information about your condition, but haven't had much luck yet.  If your doctor in Michigan was worried about your uterus, your new OB needs to be informed about this.  Can you have your medical records sent to your new doctor?  If your new doctor is aware of your situation, maybe he/she feels that it is not as severe as the last doctor.  Either way, if it worries you and increases the risk of yourself and your baby, it is something you need to reiterate to your doctor, so perhaps you can get those tests done and he/she can see that it is or is not a problem.

I agree with mamaofonetrying42.  If you feel you're not being appropriately taken care of by your OB, you should find another.  Find someone who *will* run tests and do ultrasounds and let you know if there's a problem.
