I'm nervous about taking it because of the side effects. Apparently it can make you C-R-A-N-K-Y, which is a nicer way of saying the b-word.
Oh, and my husband was completely obnoxious while we were there. As the doctor is explaining the schedule for the Clomid and BDing he says, "Mark it on the calendar, baby!" He said some other funny things but I can't remember them at the moment. I don't think my doctor heard him (she was a bit frazzled because she had a double patient load due to a doc being called to a birth) but I laughed!
Cool--congrats! My best friend got pregnant after taking Clomid with only one baby fortunately:) Good luck..........I hope it works well for you the first time!
I am so glad Joy!!! I so look forward to the day that I see your name and BFP in the same sentence!!!
I wish I could answer the question about the medications but I have never taken either. Since you don't start for 3 days, you could call your doc on Monday morning and ask before you actually take the Clomid.
I am so excited for you and how cool would it be if you got on here and said, "Guess what ladies? It's twins"!!! We shall see.......Wink....Wink.....
I have a question though, is clomid only prescribed for certain conditions, if im ovulating can i still take clomid?(guess i just want to increase my chances of twins)
CONGRATS on getting started with the clomid Joy!!! And don't worry about your DH... men are like that. my hubby has been switching between trying to talk me out of wanting him in the operating room and joking about how he'll pass out cold!
I REALLY, REALLY, REALLY hope you get your BFP when they do your HCG draw!
Are you gonna use OPK strips to test for Ovulation??
And I think If you get multiples (twins are most common) that it'll be even more of a blessing!!!

Hope that's enough!!!
And LATRICE414~ Clomid is what doctors usually give women who haven't been able to get pregnant within about 6mo to a year, or who have that coupled with PCOS or some other problem that interferes with fertility.. It boosts ovulation.
most doctors WONT prescribe it if you've been trying for less than 6 months.
I'm happy you got some answers Joy! This is both mine and my husbands "generation" for twins, but our 2 previous m/c's have only been singletons. I've been having these weird dreams about being pregnant with twins, but in my dream it's not as a way to replace the two blessings I lost, but as a way to make up for them. I know...it's weird and I'm not even pregnant yet, so not sure why I'm dreaming it.
I start OPK Monday and hopefully, if I'm like usual, I'll get my surge on Thursday evening and I'll be in the RE's office bright and early Friday morning to get blood work and u/s to see when we need to BD. Hubby and I are just going to go ahead and BD every night until then. If this doesn't work, with the assistance of the RE telling us when to BD, then Clomid is already in the works for next cycle. I've already gotten a prescription called in at the pharmacy, just waiting to pick it up. Hopefully, this is OUR month!!!
When RE was talking to me about Clomid, he didn't say anything about having to stop taking Metformin. I understand me and you take it for 2 different reasons, but the meds are the same.
I'll keep my fingers crossed for you...and we expect to hear from you as soon as possible on the 18th with the results!!!!
Latrice, women with normal ovulation cannot and should not take Clomid. It's a Category X drug and doctors won't even let you take it longer than 6 consecutive months. It's a dangerous drug. There are other ways you could increase the chance of multiples, but you'd have to talk to your doctor!
To everyone who asked about twins~~~ I think it'd be SO COOL (albeit it very hard at times, but so it is anytime you have babies!). But I'll also be happy with a single baby. What freaks me out is there is a SLIM chance of TRIPLETS. That would be insane.
Martika, I haven't thought about using OPKs. But I know that Clomid decreases your CM (which I already don't have) so I may NEED to buy preseed this time (waiting for payday). The cool thing about Clomid is you know your ovulation window. You take one pill a day, for five days. Then wait five more days and you ovulate between CD 10-15 (so you BD on those days).
krushing, that would be so sweet if we got pregnant together! That's really cool that he's going to give you an ultrasound to check everything for ovulation!!! I have dreams about twins all the time too. I was really thinking about last night because I just redecorated my girls' rooms and I was thinking, "Where would I put TWO babies?" Ahhh... not even pregnant yet so I shouldn't worry! LOL!
I am glad you got some answers and I am hoping to see you w/ a BFP soon...
I have twin nieces and always wanted and dreamed about having twins, but am pregnant with a single baby currently and with my circumstances, it's probably just as well, but I LOVE TWINS!! Soo much fun!
My friend is on metformin and clomid...I haven't asked any further questions though BUT I am assuming it is safe...Hopefully this will work this round! I'm making my doc happy by going the full year before we try the clomid, now you'll have some first hand experiences you can share with all of us who are on the verge of clomid =)
sweetangel, I think the reason my doc wanted to do Clomid was because with PCOS you don't always ovulate. Do you have PCOS? I can't remember so please forgive me! And since we have been doing natural family planning our entire marriage, she was concerned because most people using NFP (who don't have a good basis to start with) usually end up pregnant pretty quickly after the birth of a baby.
LMMinGA, I hope you have a speedy and awesome delivery!!! Cannot wait to see pics!!!
I wanted to reccommend to you that you take NO antihistamines (sp?) during the week your ovulating or plan to ovulate w/the clomid. Benadryl and things like that dry up mucous membranes. :) I've also read that a couple small doses of robutussin will build up your CM some too. :)
No, I don't have PCOS but since my mc in december, I think I've been having anovulatory cycles like every other cycle...I seem to only get a + opk every other month...my temps say I ov'd every month but IDK...Well, good luck...and I hope you share your experience with us! OH yeah, mucinex is supposed to help with the cm too!
Martika, thank you so much for your info!!! I think I'll try the Robitussin and the Preseed together. Getting a little desperate over here! LOL! I don't take medication at all, except for the stuff my doc recently prescribed. I absolutely hate taking medication and would rather be miserable. So... that's a good thing!
sweetangel, I hope that your doctor appointment goes well and I can't wait to see a BFP from you!!!
Good luck joy i wish you so much luck,i actually became pregnant this cycle using clomid,i was on 100mg cd2 -cd6 ..im waiting to see your BFP....sending you loads of babydust...just so you know you can also take metformin with clomid....
lactrice414 you can use clomid even if you ovulate,it boosts ovulation, and produces, more and healthy eggs.as previous posts have said though its not the first option they will give..
I was ovulating and my doc prescribed Clomid sometimes you just need a little boost......but if I remember correctly I took the Clomid based around my period.....unfortunately it didnt work for me at the time but I did end of pregnant a little over a year later...after doing 4 cycles.
Hello ladies, I take Metformin and Clomid. It' sfine to do. I wanted to know when do you actually take the Robitussin for the cm dry up, while on Clomid. Does anyone know how many days before ovulation I should take Robitussin?
You should start your own thread. This one is from July, you will probably get more/better responses if you make your own question! I dont have any advice for you but I know many great ladies on this board who will! Good luck!
That's great Joy, and I wish you the best of luck!
Latrice - You asked earlier if you can still take clomid if you ovulate. Yes, you can, but only if the doctor thinks it will help you. I ovulate on my own, but I take Femara. (Similar to clomid) For me, it helped move up ovulation so my luteal phase wasn't so short. I only had one large follicle this month so, so I know if I do end up with a BFP, it will only be 1.
Oh, does anyone know if I can take my Metformin regularly while doing the Clomid? I forgot to ask and she didn't say anything, so I assume it's okay?!
I wish I could answer the question about the medications but I have never taken either. Since you don't start for 3 days, you could call your doc on Monday morning and ask before you actually take the Clomid.
