What type of breast pump did you use?

by NicMom, Jul 02, 2009 05:19PM
If you pumped when did you start to pump and what kind of pump do you suggest?

I got the Lansinoh double breast pump and I'm not sure if I should take it back and get the Medela. I also don't know how soon I'll use it. I know once I want to leave the baby with someone else I'll have to.

Thanks!

i used the medela pump in style advanced. but i was an exclusive pumper and had to have something really good.

I used to belong to a forum for pumpers. Many, many women were very happy with their Lanisoh pumps- apparently it's the same exact thing as the Ameda Purely Yours- just a different color and a bit cheaper. Some women responded better to the Medela, some women preferred the Lansinoh/Ameda.

Honestly, since you won't be relying on using the pump several times a day, you'll probably be just fine with the one you have.

I used the medela pump in style and loved it! I nursed and pumped and it was great and never had any problems with it. I actually just ordered all new parts for it, a couple of things broke and some things just needed to be replaced. I actually bought it from a lady who only used once or twice. It was practically brand new. I couldn't afford to buy a brand new one. But I am very pleased with it and will be using it again this time around.
With my son I started pumping when he was 2 weeks old. We needed to travel to see hubby's grandparents and it was a 3 hour trip. My milk supply was never affected by it and he did great with a bottle and never got confused. I was always told to wait until they are at least 8 weeks, but it depends I guess.

I used an Avent pump...manual.  My milk flowed really well, so it didn't take long to fill a bottle.  I started pumping when DS was 2 weeks old - I really needed a break from being the only one getting up in the middle of the night, and DH was more than willing to help me out by giving DS a bottle (every night when he was getting up twice and then every other night when he was only getting up once).

Thanks I had read something that said not to pump until 6 to 8 weeks because of nipple confusion. I don't know though breast milk is breast milk I don't care how she gets it just as long as she does.

I had pumped since Nathanael was a day old, He was born with fluid in his lungs, and I could never get him to latch on anyways I was an exclusive pumper and used the medela pump in style. I pumped for 8 months because my supply dried up!
