Worried about causing miscarriage

by chug82, May 11, 2009 08:26AM
Hi, Just need a bit of reassurance. I'm 6 weeks pregnant and I did something stupid today. We had a friend come over with their dog to visit us and our dog. I was keeping the new dog outside the front door to avoid chaos for a sec and whilst holding him he lurched to try and get past me and I think I ended up twisting strangely. I'm not exactly sure how it happened-it was so fast- but I remember feeling like I'd strained something in my lower back and abdomen on the right side. As time went by my lower back starting spasming a bit and I could feel the pain spreading. I just got really worried that I might've caused some damage. When I was first pregnant I had implantation pain/cramps all around my lower right abdomen and back and the pain today was all in that area so I just really worried I'd disturbed where the baby is. Does this sound crazy?.
I've slept for about 2 hours this morning and tried to stay calm and I do feel a lot better though back still a bit sensitive. I'm trying to just think that my muscles must all be changing like crazy so perhaps it's very easy to put your back out with the tiniest twist, but I can't help worrying. Has anyone else had any minor injuries and been fine? I must be more careful. It's so hard to think about everything you're doing when you can't see your pregnancy yet! Any reassurance much appreciated. :-) Thank you.

Try not to worry as that isn't going to help you at all. The back injury shouldn't have anything to do with your pregnancy. I would take some tylenol and use a heating pad on a med or low setting for the pain, but other than that it should be ok.

Good luck and congrats on your pregnancy!
