am i in denial

by billyjet01, May 03, 2008 02:02AM
Hi,
I was 1 week late with my period a week ago so i took a home preg test which came up faint as did the next 4! i went and had blood taken at the docs and it came up as positive but only just.  then 4 days later i began to get cramps and started bleeding like a normal period.  the docs say that it is too early for an ultrasound and that it was a misscarriage.  they havent taken any blood since wednesday night and i want to know if i am in denial to think that there is hope that i am still pregnant.  the period was no heavier than normal nor did it last any longer. i want to know how soon can i take another test as i am so heartbroken.

i would wait 2 more weeks, and take another hpt....if it comes back BFP, resechedule blood test......some women will still have *periods* after first becoming pregnant, some have *implantation bleeding* which i've heard does have slight cramping to it.....not to be rude, but i dont think you'd even know you miscarried that early? most people who miscarry before 8 weeks, i've *heard* (if i'm wrong i severely apologize!), but that it's more like a regular period.....i'd just wait 10 days and test again, if a huge positive, redo blood, and you could very likely be EXPECTING!!!!

GOOD LUCK! i'll keep you in my thoughts! i hope it's a BFP for you! (well a really big BFP lol)

You can take a test now although if it was a miscarriage it could take a while for it to stop showing positive. I showed positive for 4 weeks after my miscarriage on a test. What you might want to do is get more blood work done to see if your levels are rising or falling. Its possible to bleed during pregnancy and have nothing wrong. I bled worse than a period from weeks 5 to 10 and have a healthy daughter to show for it and on top of that they told me I was having a miscarriage at the time. I'm sorry that you are having to go through all this uncertainly we ladies on this board are here for you no matter what the outcome is. I'll keep you in my prayers and pray for your little one.

Id say insist on a blood test.  I mc at 6/7 weeks and it was much heavier and much more painful then a period. Did you pass any clots? I'm sure its different for everyone but when i mc there was no mistaking it for a period.  I wish you the best of luck and id hang in there and get another blood test.  I dont really think an hpt would be a very good indicator at this point being that it also took me 4 weeks to get down to a negitave number after my mc.

with my first daughter i had bleeding like a period for 3 months, thats why i didnt think i was pregnant..went to my first drs appt thinking i was only a few months..i was ALMOST 5 months along. so you can bleed and be pregnant. you need to get your blood drawn to see if your hcg levels are going up or if they are declining, at this point it would be the only way to tell.. good luck!
