an update about my alcoholic fiance...

by tisa1029, May 15, 2008 07:33PM
I was going to update on my previous question but it is hard to find. Well Tuesday I told rusty (fiance) that if he drank any beer and Wednesday and Thursday I would be gone for good. He said drinking is hard to quit that he would not drink Thursday. Already an excuse. Well it is Thursday and he came over to my friends and smelt like mouthwash so I asked him if he was drinking and he said no. Then I said, "I know you better then you think and I know that you have had beer b/c I can smell it." He then said ok I have had a 24 oz but I will not drink any more tonight if you don't want me to. So I just told him that it is over and he said to my friend when I was outside, "I guess I am a loser." Then he left. That is about it and now I am very depressed.

don't feel bad u did the right thing. it is very hard to quit drinkin. i've been a situations like this before. best thing to do is get out, before it's to late and u get abused. i went through  it wid my 3 yr old father, he almost get us killed in his car. i was so afraid.  he couldn't perform  when it was time for sex and always fell sleep. he stills drinks but not that much since he seems to be stable.  i told him, let's go get help, he told me, he is not an alcoholic, i was like oh.  i said am leaving if u  don't get help. he went to a facilty, he wasnt drinkin  for a while but he now drinks again. we not together so i don't know wat  he's doing.

My husband was a "alcoholic" when I met him. He drank all day everyday. Sometimes it takes a good swift kick in the a** or maybe a sign from God for them to stop. In my case it took losing a baby. I was scared he would drink more and I told him many times he needed to stop but he never actually stopped. But when I lost the baby he put it away for about a yr. Then he started to drink when his family was around or when I would drink with him. Now he only drinks at special* parties and if I am drinking at home. But not like he did before. I wish I could be more help to you. I know its hard and it can drive you apart. But maybe you should try to give him options. and let him know that he CANT lie to you or try to cover it up.... Good luck to you!
