anyone had spotting and was able to carry the baby till term??

by danielle72007, Jan 17, 2008 02:35PM
As most of you know this morning I went to the bathroom around 5am and had some very light pink spotting and then once more I very small amount the second time.. went to the er and they said my cervic is closed and there was no evidence of blood there....she said everything looked and "felt" completely normal and that sometimes "it just happens"  my spotting is non existant along with the cramping.. is it possible to have a normal pregnancy after this?? I will be 11 weeks tomorrow and my routine appointment is scheduled for the 29th.. My nerves are very shot.. the cramping did not ever double me over in pain, so it was no really painful, it was just uncomfortable, almost the way I've been feeling the whole time with the "pulling" sensation.. I just really nervous and worried.. my gut says my baby will be fine, but you never really know.. what do you think??

If it wasnt more than just a couple little spots, cervix is closed and cramping was never more than you have been, things will probably be fine.  You can always call and try to bump your ob appt up some becuase of this....hopefully they will let you and you can get some piece of mind.

That little bit of spotting could have resulted from any number of things...try to relax...

Goodluck at the ultrasound!!

I've had friends who have had mild spotting and even my fiance's mother bled at the times of her periods the whole time she was pregnant with him.. so I'm trying to stay positive and I think it was good that my cervic was closed and there was no evidence of blood at that point.. also I feel slightly better that I've already seen the heartbeat a few weeks before. I know anything can happen but I'm tryin to stay positive...

Yea, I had spotting for two times, that lasted for a week or so.. They told me the same thing, the cervix was closed and they didnt know where it came from, I even get all the PMS symptoms every 28 days now, and I am five months and the baby is very very active.  So yea, relax and I think you will be fine, as you will see on this forum, everyone will tell you that stress and worring about this is not good for you, so let everything take it toll and you will most likely be fine.. good luck

I'm glad your appointment is the 29th! Just keep an eye on your body because the same thing happened to me and I ended up miscarrying. I spotted a couple times...went to the ER, they said my cervix was closed, my HCG levels were 11,901 and they did an exam and said the baby was fine. The next day I went in for an u/s and my gestational sac was empty...couldn't find a heart beat and they told me I would miscarry. A day later, I did. I was around 12 weeks...
I am sure you are just fine because like the other ladies said, lots of women do spot when their pregnant but just to be safe, watch your body and if anything else seems weird go to the ER immediately...better safe than sorry. And make sure they check everything on the 29th...relax and get lots of rest.
Congrats on the Pregnancy!

Well that's good news that the cervix was closed...when spotting happens and the cervix is closed most of the times it's normal...that's like me a few weeks ago at 14 weeks I was spotting for 2 days and got so scared...but my cervix was closed, baby's heartbeat was about 140 bpm...and they had no idea what caused the spotting...my mother in law said "IT'sSTRESS" my baby's dad said "IT WAS THE SEX" so who knows?? But my baby is okay...I am now 18 weeks and 5 days...and the baby seems perfectly fine.=D

I spotted from six weeks to about 10 weeks everyday and had cramping. I'm 5 mths pregnant and he is perfect. I had two miscarriages previous to this pregnancy, and I never spotted with those two. So go figure. But as long as everything looks okay, it's probably nothing.

WHEN I FOUND OUT I WAS PREGNANT WITH MY SON (2nd) I HAD SPOTTING AND EVERYONE SAID ITS FINE THE BABY LOOKS GOOD. THEN I GOT MY OB TO DO AN ULTRASOUND AND THEY FOUND A TEAR IN MY GESTATIONAL SAC.... NO BIGGIE, GAVE ME BEDREST FOR 30 DAYS AND ALL HEALD GREAT! HE WILL BE 2 THIS JUNE AND WAS BORN HEALTHY AS COULD BE 8lbs 8oz.... DONT WORRY TO MUCH AND TRY TO STAY OFF YOUR FEET, DRINK PLENTY OF WATER.... AND LET YOUR DOC KNOW WHATS GOING ON AND YOUR WORRIES!!!!

BEST WISHES TO YOU

Spotting and bleeding is actually not as uncommon as we think. You should be just fine! Many pregnant women have bleeding and it isn't harmful most of the time.
