If it's the test I think it is, I have known of several people having to get it.  They inject you with dye (in the groin area I think) and then take images of your heart to see if there are blockages, etc.  I know of at least one person that was awake while they did it.  Given something to calm their nerves, but not totally asleep.
You're not pregnant, right?  I don't think they would want to do that if you're pregnant unless for some reason they absolutely had to.

Oh, by the way- The dye test I'm thinking of is heart-related.  If you're talking about something else just disregard my answer.  LOL
Hope all goes well for you.

hi, i had it done in july. what they done to me was sent me to the hosp out patient. had me lay on the table with a x ray machine and a moniter that could show where the dye was going. it didnt hurt that bad when they was placing the thing inside me, they explained everything. but it did hurt some when they was putting the dye in . i had a small blockage on my right side but they made me move on my right side and the blockage worked its way out. its a lil painfull, but not to bad and it doesnt take very long. and make sure you bring a pad with ya. when your done and up, the dye will leak out and it can stain your clothing.

Hi, I have also had this done.  The test is a little uncomfortable.  It kinda felt like cramping pain.   I was glad I had it done.  No blockages were seen.  I have heard that after this type of test you may have a better chance of getting pregnant.

Hysterosalpingogram (HSG): This test is carried out in the x-ray department of the hospital and is a screening test to check if the tubes are blocked. A speculum is passed (like when having a smear test) and a small amount of dye is injected through the cervix. A series of x-rays are taken which show the outline of the uterus and if the tubes are open, dye will be seen flowing through.

i have had it done twice under general anestetic as i had the lap also,it can be a little uncomfortable after you may feel a little gas down below.it can help if you have a slight blockage as it can push through and unblock, there are alot of study to show that a women can concieve within few months having this done, but dont worry it dont hurt..
