ecotrin low early in pregnancy

by portia1504, Mar 17, 2008 08:36AM
Hi i am 14 weeks pregnant and my obgyn prescribed me provera and ecotrin from 6 weeks of pregnancy - i hve had 4 miscarriages prevoiuosly of which one was a ectopic pregnancy, why would he put me on ecotrin right through my pregnancy?
i have stopped the provera at 12weeks, but is still on the ecortrin.

I was just wondering what effects it will have on the baby and myself? as i have read that it can cause prolonged bleeding and even stillbirth- i also do not take blood tranfusions, so can it lead to bleeding so bad that i need blood?
please assist

As far as I know, Ecotrin is a form of aspirin, therefore I'm not sure how they could check a 'level'..........Is is possible that you have a clotting disorder?  Ecotrin is generally used to thin the blood....some women who have blood clotting disorders are on it throughout pregnancy.....

Oh..I was just confused by your title stating that your Ecotrin level was low......B/c I'm pretty much postive that there's not an "ecotrin level"......I have certainly heard of that...Somthing about helping to increase blood flow to the placenta.....
