enlarged ventricles of the brain

by gdiaz, Jan 08, 2008 05:19PM
During my 20 week ultrasound, the radiologist noticed bilateral dilation of the ventricles of the brain.  I was sent to the parinatologist for a follow-up ultrasound - while there, the sonograhper measured the ventricles at a 15, but then the doctor measured them at a 17.

We had an amnio done to rule out a viral infection & Down's.  We are still waiting for the results.  My question is,,,what measurment do the ventricles need to be at to know that it is hydrocephalus for sure & also what effect could this fluid have on my baby?

I also don't know anything about that, sorry! Maybe you can schedule an appointment to ask the Doctor on the doctor forums (you'll see a link on the left-side of the screen).
