getting pregnant on birth control

by Jame0223, Dec 20, 2007 02:59PM
I know the main reason behind birth control is to keep you from getting pregnant but I was just wondering...how many of you got pregnant while on birth control, whether it be unsteadily taking the pill or following it precisely(please mention which). I know its probably not that great of a chance but I'm on birth control. I take it every evening except one night I took it a few hours later then normal. My boobs are sore and I've got like 3 more of the actual pills before the sugar pills. Also last month I didnt start bleeding until the 4th sugar pill. Had a very very light 3 days period. I've been having a lot of cm for like a week and a half or longer. Getting some acne which happened last time I got pregnant. And so tired! What are the chances? I kind of have my fingers crossed secretively but won't be upset if I'm not. Just wondering. Thanks in advance ladies! Baby dust to all ttc and yay for those of you expecting!

I am 8 weeks 3 days and i got preg on the depo. I was on it for 3 years and never missed one shot. My doc said that its only 99% effective. The only 100% BC is no sex.

I know. Im secretly wanting to be pregnant! lol well not so secret on here. Yall make me miss being prego! Anyone on the pill?

by njeosys, Dec 20, 2007 04:16PM
You stopped taking the pills since you suspected you might be pregnant, right? I'm assuming you did! LOL! Just wanted to make sure.

I've known people who got pregnant on the pill, but as to whether they were disciplined in taking them, I have no idea. So sorry I can't be of more help!

I am currently pregnnat and in my second trimester. I was on the depo shot steadily for two years and got it on time all the time.  But i still ended up pregnant, anything is possible and good luck to you!!!!1

hmm. Im not pregnant nor technically ttc. if I am who you are asking. I have not stopped taking them because I really dont think I am, Im almost due for my Af so im thinking im jsut getting pre mens symptoms. Hmm I dont know. Ill take a test maybe? Should I even bother? or should I just wait for next week to see if I get my bleed? I dont want to stop taking the pills because I dont wanna screw up my cycle if I am not pregnant. I dont know!? AHHH haha what should I do?

I was just wondering what the chances. I can see the depo isnt very reliable but hmm..I really wonder about the pill you take daily. I know women who have gotten pregnant on it but dang! Just wondering. I did not

being on birth control wont cause you to get a bfp would it? Stupid question i think but hey no harm in asking right?! hah

by aeslehc15, Dec 20, 2007 05:15PM
No the pill doesn't change the results of a HPT.

Well, My mother got pregnant with me while she was on the pill... and didn't realize it for a few months, and kept taking the pill.  She always tells me she should have known how stubborn I'd be - right from the very beginning! lol

I got pregnant the first time on the pill and I was five weeks along when I found out and I was still taking the pill, so don't worry:)  You should know soon enough anyway and it could be possible.  Good luck!

Thanks girls! I'm trying not to get my hopes up. Im thinking my cycles just screwed up after the miscarriage. My boobs hurt and I have been getting cramps off and on starting today. My period should start maybe christmas or the day after. I dont know! Merry Christmas everyone!

I'm 16 weeks today! AF last visited me on 9/9. I take the pill on a strict basis. I was never late, but a half hour at the most. In Oct. I had slight spotting for a few days. Nothing rare, since I had even skipped a month before and wasn't preggo. Nov. 7, I didn't get my period so I figured I should get a test and had two positive hpt's. Now I had many symptoms, but was convinced I couldn't be preggo because I was so faithful to the pill. My Dr. said there was no harm to the baby because I was taking the pill for 2 mos while preggo. Now were happily preggo and can't wait to find out what it is.  We find that out on Jan. 10. Good luck to you!!!

Hah im on birth control but I kind wish its failing! haha that would be a nice christmas gift. Congrats to you on being preggo! I was but miscarried in sept. I would have been 5 months next friday..But its okay now. Just wish I could have tried again..but its not in the cards so not at the moment!

I got pregnant with my first child on the pill taking it on a very regular basis being only 16 years old. My first time I was pregnant. After I had him I decided that the pill had not work for me the first time and I was not trying that again and I got on the patch. I loved it because I only had to remember one day a week and only 3 weeks a month and had my periods really regular. Then my husband and I met after about 8 months of being on the patch I went to the docter and guess what I was pregnant with number two. I am know pregnant with baby number three. This one was our planned one and we tried for ever it seemed never getting back on birth control and had trouble. So after this one I am getting my tubes tied so that I don' t have any more birthcontrol babies lol. But mine are healthy as can be and I think yours will be fine to. Good luck either way.

I ended up pregnant while taking the pill but I was also on antibiotics. Dr didn't mention to me about the pill because I have been on them lots before. I know that they MAY mes with the pill but didn't think it would happen to me! Boyfriend also knew but thought the same thing as me.
