diabetes...plus when I had sono yesterday baby weighed 11oz which according to some websites is above average although dr said it was fine. Can neone tell me about their experience during this exam and how iss gestationl diabetes treated
Ah. Well sweets, its diffrent. I had it with my first, and i got the real thing. Lost a bunch of pounds, and went to pills, now im being treated with full. Now. But youll have to start checking ur sugars, watch what you eat. And if its really bad insulin
telling me they were too big etc, the test itself is a breeze they just take some blood first, then get you to drink a glucose solution, leave you an hour or 2 (so take loads to read or keep you busy) then they take some more blood and its done! it turned out that my babies were just big (all born over 10lb) and i didn't have gestational diabetes, so try not to worry too much lovely, good luck Xx
I go for mine on the 21st. They are telling me I'm measuring about a week or so early and that was at the 18wk mark. My one GF that is diabetic to begin with keeps trying to convince me that I have gestational diabetes. There was 1 morning in 6 1/2 months that I didn't feel very good until I ate something. I just chalked it up to being hungry and not eatting as soon as I woke up.
The only thing I was told is don't shake the drink stuff... it'll explode and you can only have the one bottle.
I got my done at 8 weeks becuase diabities runs in my family. I failed the 1 hour test so the next day had to go for the 3 hour test but passed it. I have to re-do it at 20 weeks. A friend of mine had gestational diabetes and just had to test her sugar a few times a day and just made a few better food choices. hang in there and good luck
I haven't had it. A friend of mine had it with both of hers though and was treated by diet - she just had to be careful about following a diabetic friendly diet, which wasn't that much different than her usual diet. I have heard it can b worse, but they also have you go in for a 3 hour test if you have sugar levels that are too high after your first, 1 hour test.
i did take that test when i was 28 weeks, i did not pass the first time one our one, they will give u 50 mil drink that is too sweet, they have 2-3 different flavor that u can pick. after my first test they send me for 3 hours test that they gave me 150 mil same drink ,if u are going to take the test and want to pass it , try to fast for few hours before the test. i did not for that reason i did not pass it for first round. good luck :)
I did my test just this past Mon, I don't know the results yet since I have a Dr appt soon (so I didn't stay for it) a lot of ppl can't drink the juice because it is sweet but I picked the lemon lime flavor so it was good:) if you have a choice on the flavor, that's the one I'd recommend. My sis had fruit punch and it was too sweet. Good luck!
Oh wow thanks for sharing ur experiences guys
.maks me worry little less. I guess im more worried cuz mother n grandmother had gest diabetes when they we're preg..n it didn't go away!! Ahh oh well no use worrying just need to start praying haha
I was concerned about gestational diabetes, too, because my mother had it in her last pregnancy (I was her second to last). My baby also measured big at my 20 week US. I took the one hour test and it came back normal. If you do a decent job of watching your diet, which all pregnant women should do anyway, then you shouldn't have as much to worry about.
