hCG and progesterone levels...HELP

My results are in and dont look good to me, most of all im not happy with my doctor's decision. Yesterday at the doctor i was 4w4d and my hCG is 238 progesterone 6.8. I was told progesterone is low but to wait a week to recheck levels and then maybe go on suppository for it. With having 2 mc and a chemical i feel a week is to long to wait. Is there anyone with low progesterone history that can help me??? I will be calling my doctor tomorrow and asking to do the repeat labs asap and that i want progesterone suppository.

Wow, that does surprise me that they'd make you wait for progesterone suppository.  I can't speak from experience myself, but it seems in your case and with your history, they'd get you some asap - and also re-check your numbers sooner than a week, too - usually they check them every 2-3 days to make sure they're doubling.  I hope you get more help tomorrow from your doctor.  Be firm and demand what you want.  My mother in law had many miscarriages before FINALLY getting progesterone supplements and then she was able to have her 3 children, who all turned out normal and healthy. :-)  I hope you don't have to go through any more m/c's to have a successful pregnancy.  Please keep us posted!

Yeah i dont get why they have me waiting either. All i know is i wont be standing for it and they better do something cuz im not waiting. I could not handle another loss nor should i have to...ugh!!!

My progesterone was at 9 and I started bleeding. They called out prometrium to take orally everyday until 12 weeks. I'm not sure why they're making you wait for it.

Absolutely you should be on progesterone - I'm surprised they didn't give you a shot in the office.  That is a very low number - they like it to be at least over 10, but over 15 is better.

I would call first think in the morning and at least get them to call a prescription in.  You should take them 2x a day until your progesterone gets back up to a safe level - and probably continue that until the end of the first trimester.

Considering your history, I would demand supplements. Why in the world are they waiting!!? Either find another doc asap or be very firm with them.

Oh im going to be firm with them all right. Of course they called me at like 5pm today with my results and was in a hurry to get off the phone. They will not like me after tomorrow and if they still refuse to give me anything i will be calling other doctors. I wish i knew for sure if the er would do anything cuz id go there but i dont think they would.

Yea I don't think the ER docs have authority to do anything like that. Most docs like to see progesterone somewhere at at least 10 in the first few weeks of pregnancy. When my mom was pregnant with my little brother, they checked her levels early on and they started declining. I think it got down to around 9 and they immediately put her on suppositories. Her levels came back up and my lil brother is now 9. :) Oh, and she was dealing with midwives, not OB's so I am shocked that your doc has not called something in for you asap! Definitely let them know where you stand!!

Oh i will be letting them know where i stand. This nurse Vickie will not like me after tomorrow i bet. The story about your brother has given me hope. I dont want to loose this pregnancy we have been through so much. Ugh and to think it has been 24hr since they drew my blood, now im even more scared.

I doubt the ER wuold do that, they would probably refer you to your doctor. Have you thought about trying to get in to see another ob?

What im going to do is just show up at my doctor and demand they give me something. Then look for another one after they give me what i want. Its like maybe this has been my problem all along nd they can help.

Exactly.  It's not like it's a hardship on THEM.  All the doc has to do is write a quick script and YOU (or your insurance) are paying for it, NOT them.  Doctors need to realize that they are there for US not the other way around.  Give em H-e-ll girl!! :)

At 11 DPO my Progesterone was 13 & my doctor immediately put me on supplements. I had it rechecked a week later and it was 19. I am still taking the supplements twice a day and I'm now 11 weeks pregnant. Good Luck!

Well ladies im back at the lab after raising hell at my doctors. He said he is not sure im actually 4 weeks because my hcg is only 238 but i thought that was in the normal range. So if it has gone up by at least 66% he is going to start progesterone. He says it has to be called into a compound pharmacy and thats why he could not just write it out. I also go back on friday to get another lab form, so i guess i got my point across.

Your initial hCG looks fine but the Progesterone is not looking good. You can get Prometrium and insert them vaginally or take them orally. I got my Progesterone the SAME DAY my midwife called the RX in for me. I would switch docs ASAP. I know I say that a lot here but I just wouldn't stand for it nor have a doctor I cannot trust anywhere near my hoo-ha especially with a baby involved.

I agree. My Prometrium was called out that day and did not have to be compounded. I'd get a new dr or midwife. I personally loved my midwife.

Yeah i know the progesterone is not looking good which is why i asked for the supplement. I could have it the same day if he would call it in now and not wait for today lab results. All because he feels my hCG is low and should be higher then what it is. I just hope i get the progesterone tomorrow and everything comes out fine.

Well i called around and found a new obgyn that can see me Monday at 1245...hope this one works out!!!

I sure hope she is as well. I think ive been through enough already and deserve to be helped. My labs from today could not come back any sooner so i can get the progesterone. To add to it my throat is now really hurting to the point i could not eat dinner...ugh does it ever end?
