hair growth and gender?? PLEASE ANSWER!!

I am 18 weeks pregnant and have an ultrasound on monday.. ever since i found out i was pregnant.. i have noticed a lot of hair growth on my stomach. i mean, i have always had hair there, but it just seems that it got darker. i also have that dark line down my stomach but that isnt hairy.. and my leg hair grows pretty much the exact same it used to..... well everyone keeps telling me that because my hair got darker on my stomach it must mean a boy...they even claim their doctors swear by it.  Is this true?? Has anyone had a girl and grown more hair than normal?  Thanks for your help..

That is so funny, I was just reading about that yesterday. I know that it is an old wives tale that if you grow more hair on your belly, you are going to have a boy. Personally, my hair on my stomach is much fuzzier, and darker, and I am having a boy. Do you want a girl?

My first child was a girl back in 2002, I am half mexican so im more prominant to get the dark line. But even with my daughter my hair grew pretty fast, and I looked like sasquatch with all the hair on my tummy. I also got the dark line with my 2 boys, but I never had any hair on my tummy.

I just think it is an old wives tale, everyones body is different, and so is every pregnancy.

I am having a girl but I have a lot of hair in my stomach and also have a dark line. I think that there is no association between those two things.

I  have 2 girls. first one belly gto very hairy and had the dark line down the center.  with #2 i was less hairy and never got the dark line.

the hair on my legs almost stopped growing when I was pregnant.  I had a boy.  I read that it could happen and didnt believe it until I only shaved 3 times all last summer.  It is back to growing normally now that baby is here :(  I was enjoying my barely there leg hair!

I'm having a girl in June, and I have noticed darker hair between my naval and pubic area. Infact, I had to pluck one out because it was longer and darker than the rest.

I think what you are being told is probably just an old wives tale.

OMG I remember having to shave my legs every day!!  It grew so fast!  The bad thing was that after birth all the hair on my head fell out...so I have little spikes of regrowth all over!  FUN right?

what type of cravings do you have....remember they are just tales but for some people they sware by these tales

I'm having a boy and the hair on my legs has barely been growing at all! It's actually really nice. lol. The hair on my belly is the same as before but I do have a dark line from my belly button down and a very very faint line from my belly button up, you can barely see it. So I don't know how true it is, every test I took said girl, and it was wrong! I just think everyone is different and will notice a pattern in their own pregnancies. It's harder to figure it out from someone else's experience. Good luck! Let us know what you are having!!! =)

Your hair grows faster because of hormones and pre-natals and the dark line is the linea nigra and everyone has one its just more pronounced in some people and that is also caused by hormones. As for the chinese gender chart it told me I was having a boy and I had a girl. I'm not sure about cravings because I didn't really "crave" anything. I know that some people swear by them but honestly like LosingMyMindinGA said its basically a 50-50 chance so a lot of times it will be correct for people but only because the chance of it being right is so high.

Best thing to do is follow your intuition. I was reading an article in a magazine the other day that said more than 70% of women had a feeling as to what sex their baby would be and they were correct. Every old wives tale in the book was saying "boy" for me and I just had a feeling it was a girl and I was right. :)
