hcg level tripled

I got a positve pg test at 2 wk 6 days. I got another + at 3 wks (11 dpo and 12dpo)
When I went to my dr to get a test to confirm it was neg. so she sent me for bloodwork.
At 14 dpo my hcg was 81. Then 2 days later it was 253.
Is it possible that this is a sign of twins? I am 33 and this is my 3rd pg. I was still breastfeeding when I got pg this time.
My cycle was weird the month before I got pg. I usually am 26 days. The one before this pg I was 23 days! Then this time I o'd a little early (on dc 9 or 10)
Is tripling hcg normal? Is there any reason to be concerned by it? Should I ask for an u/s to make sure it is not in the tube?

Congrats! Normal HCG can double or triple in a 48hr period. Your levels look very normal to me! The only way you can tell if your having twins is to have a ultrasound in a few weeks!!

When was your last child born before this pregnancy. And did they confirm that you are def prego? I know that after child birth your hormone levels are very high for a while. Not sure how long. It could be left over hormones giving you a false positive?

My hcg tripled in the beginning of this pregnancy and I am only having one baby. Hcg numbers can't really indicate anything other than impending miscarriages. :( Good Luck!

thank you everyone! I will quit stressing about twins. :)

My last baby is a year and a half old, so nope not left over hcg from the last baby.  :)

The dr confirmed the pregnancy, I just wasnt' sure about the numbers tripling.
