I am almost positive that in the third trimester you can have sudafed but check with your OB and or pharmacist. You can have cough drops for sure and try a neti pot, it feels kinda funny but it really works wonders! You can also use Vicks Chloroseptic spray for your throat
I agree with GRose...the neti pot is a wonderful thing! Weird, but great. lol. I know whenever I was stuffy, I used vicks vapor rub and it always helped so much. (It also helped with headaches I would get too) Also, you can put a towel over your head over a hot bowl of water with eucalyptus drops and breathe it in, that will open you up as well.
If you ask your doc, they can tell you better what medicines you are allowed to take. I know if I had a really runny nose, I would take benadryl at night to help me sleep and help my cold. I'm not big into taking medicines, so I try to do more natural things that work. But I really do hope you get some relief and feel better soon!
neti pot! lol i had no idea what you guys were talking about but i googled it and first thing in the monring i am going to the health food store by my place to see if they have one. they are closed now. i am going to try some tea and maybe have a bath and get hubby to rub some vicks on my chest, im sure he'll enjoy that!! i should try the eucalyptus drops too, like you i prefer natural methods! thanks so much ladies!!
Great ideas ladies...I like the natural methods as well! I've always wanted to try the neti pot...I saw it on Oprah with Dr. Oz and was going to order one off of Amazon but got scared!
I got a nasty cold in my 2nd trimester and was told I could take tylenol extra strength for pain, sudafed for congestion and plain robitussin for cough. I called my OB and asked them what I could have, so you could always do that too.
just thought i would post incase someone else comes across this looking for help!
my dr said as marjof said we can take sudafed and robitussin regular no dm or extra strength. I took some robitussin and didnt feel any better, I have been risning my nose with water and salt.....no neti pot but it seems to be doing the trick!!
I just got back from a dr's appointment they gave me a sinus wash. Looks disgusting, but I guess it clears all the jumk out of there and makes the pressure go away.
