help, spotting???

help, spotting???

i am so afraid...this may be nothing but i am so worried!  i am 5wks4days and had a brownish discharge when i wiped after peeing.  i haven't had any cramping and still feel the same as i had.  there doesn't appear to be blood in the pee, just when i wiped.  it has happened 2x thus far.  is this a sign of early miscarriage???  please help!  i'm so afraid!

if it was brown it was probably old blood.  I wouldn;t worry unless you start to have horrible cramps and/or lots of bright red blood.  Hopefully you are ok.  At almost 15 weeks i was spotting bright red blood, only when i wiped and everything is fine. the doctor told me that sometimes while pregnant you can bleed from the edge of the placenta.....it is fine.  So stay calm and i am sure you'll be ok.

Brown discharge, I believe, doesn't generally have anything to do with m/c, but, if you are worried, make an appt with your doc just to be sure. All of our bodies are different, and there is no way to tell for sure. Good luck

HI, there like the other ladies here said, old brown or even red is fine, as long as you are not cramping a lot and not a lot of discharge.. you're fine.. I wish I was not worried back then whan i started spotting, I now know that it is so common to have this in early pregnancy. I  went right thru to the doc and the doc who did my u/s wasnot gentle at all.. I was not in pain when we got there but after the u/s when we came home i started bleeding, i don;t mean to scare you but i wish i never went for that u/s.. i think it aggravated my cervic because the u/s "thing" for vaginal, she;s kind of sticking it and pulling it half way on my cervix and kind of painful.... like she was on the middle of doing it then will look on my chart but for the meantime I was in pain because that "thing" stuck in the middle of my cervix...

My advise is to stay relax and calm,, i know it easier said than done..

If its only spotting ocassionaly then its probably fine as long as you are not in severe pain and still "FEEL" pregnant then you should be ok.... Dont lift anything heavy or stand on your feet to long....
With my second baby I had dark brown blood for about 6 weeks until they found out it was a tear in the gestational sac. I was ordered on bed rest for 30 days and it healed its self! If you are worried about it you should mention it to your doctor!
I am also 5 weeks 6 days so keep me up with what your feeling
Good luck and dont worry to much!

At least you haven't had any cramping...Just a few weeks ago I had light spotting that at first was bright red then the next day was brownish and I thought I was having a miscarriage. It just turned out I needed to rest...I know that spotting can be common during the early pregnancy, but as soon as you see any clots or tissue come out I would say go to the ER.  For now I'd suggest resting and if it gets worse then go to the ER as well, but if it you really feel like you should go now, which I would just to be safe, then go now.  But I really hope that it' nothing serious...has it got worse since then?

girls, thank you all so much!  i feel so much better!  i am still worried slightly (because i think that is probably natural first trimester especially with your first pregnancy) but i feel much better.  it has only happened wheni wipe and it really isn't much.  kind of brownish orange...  no painful cramping or backpain.  definitely still feel pregnant.  i am really hoping it is nothing...the advice you gave me really helps me feel better -- knowing that it does happen sometimes early pregnancy...  i have just read so much about m/c that i am constantly freaking myself out!  my first dr. appt is tues of next week.  i will mention something to her about it...hopefully the spotting will stop soon enough!

adawning-have you had your first dr appt yet?

I wont get my first dr. appt until hopefully the end of february... I do get a  u/s on Feb. 7. I am so excited I cant wait! But medacaid told me I have to wait 45 days which will be Feb 18th to start seeing a doc. on medicaid. As long as I feel ok I am trying not to worry! The pregnancy crisis center here is giving me my u/s.... and its completely free. You should see if you can get into one everything they do is free..... When do you go to the doc?

my appt is on the 15th.  i am not sure if she will do an u/s.  i really hope that she does...  i would love to see something, even if it's just a smudge!  or hear a heartbeat...

is an orange discharge normal in early pregnancy?

I dont know about orange, exactly. But brown/light pink can be normal. However, it doesnt hurt to let your doctor know just so that he/she can be sure that everything is okay. While you wait to talk to doctor on Monday, unless it increases in amount or turns red, I wouldnt worry too much. Congratulations on the pregnany!!!

ha, this is a post of mine from the past!!!  the good news is that i was experiencing the orange/brown discharge and am now 38.5 weeks in that pregnancy with a healthy little girl.  my doctor ended up telling me that the spotting was probably due to leftover implantation bleeding.  i only experienced the light spotting that one day and it cleared up.  she said to be concerned if the spotting was bright red, with clots and painful cramping...which mine was not, thank goodness!  be sure to call your doctor to let her/him know to be on the safe side.

betty-when i saw this post on the board, i was sooooo confused, and then i realized it was dug up from january....aaahhhhh, memories....glad i am past that point because i was a nervous wreck first trimester!!!!
