home birth!!

home birth!!

First, thank you for reading :) second, please no horror stories!!! Soo,  im 27 weeks, having a girl, first pregnancy ive been able to carry, had several miscarriages. Anyways im 18 soon to be married and planning a natural home birth. I have a wonderful Midwife who we couldn't love anymore! Had 2 obgyns, first didn't finish the first appointment second was much better,  very nice and knowledgeable, but felt as if he didn't care appointments lasted less then 5 mins, and didn't offer the support and birth experience we wanted. Standard hospital birth with any intervention they felt like to speed up labor, get the child out quicker, unnecessary equipment used, people you don't know doing everything with your labor, didn't suggest natural birth. He said its unlikely but you can try. Yeah okay! Anyway sorry about that but as i said im doing a natural home birth, also water birthing our baby. Just wondering if anyone has any tips or advice that has done it before? Ive prepared myself i feel as much as possible ive researched and researched on anything and everything to do with pregnancy, labor, post partum, breastfeeding anything you can think of ive probably researched it lol. Regardless i feel like i can never get enough info and never have enough advice soooo anyone have anything for me?  I love hearing everyones experiences and views on everything! Just not horror stories, its wrong to tell a pregnant women that horror story because it just makes us terrified of labor then. Although i do feel bad for those moms who have those stories but they should tell people who aren't pregnant. Anyways sorry i talk a bunch i just like to say whats on my mind i guess. So anyone whos had a natural birth at home or hospital any advice? Anyone who wants to share with me there experience weather medicated or not id love to hear it! Also any tips on breast-feeding?  The first few weeks with your bundle of joy?  Anything you have tips, advice or a story to share about would be great! Also how did you pick your childs name?  Random, meant something, after someone? We are naming our daughter sammy jo, my fiances sister died at 15 in a car accident, so were naming her after her!  :) as soon as we found out i was pregnant we started  talking about it!  If it was a boy just would have made it samuel. Anyway anyone due in January or in the surrounding months? Id like to be able to make some friends that are going thru the same stuff as me and just have someone to talk to about things. Thanks for reading my essay! :) best of luck to everyone out there!

My midwife told me to watch the movie business of being born. It might answer alot of your questions.

I've had 10 babies they have all been in a hospital but have all been natrual drug free labour/birth with my last being a water birth, which was one of the best experience, its good to have a really good relationship with your midwife and that your on the same page so to speak, all I can say is to just listen to what she has to say and when you think that you cant do it anymore give it another 0 minand your natural endorphines will kick in again and you will find that you can do it. Dont be dissapointed if things dont go quite to plan, and if you do end up in hospital for any reason the health of you and your baby are whats important, good luck and I'm sure you will do really well :)

I am due in January. I hope your home delivery goes smoothly. I simply don't have the pain tolerance to consider that an option but would have loved to. (Although I don't think there are any midwives in my area) I agree that the doctors just don't have the compassion I would like. I breast fed my DD for 13 months and have every intention of doing so again this time. MY advise is to be warned that it hurts for the first few days/weeks (no one warned me) and also I plan to have my pump ready to use this time, my milk came in one day #3 and DD simply wasn't that hungrey yet and I was miserable until I got the pressure relieved. Once you get the initial bumps in the road smoothed out it is a wonderful experience.

Thank you! My hubby is a bit nervous about having a homebirth incase something goes wrong so we called every good hospital within 2-3 hours from home to see if any did water births and none did sooo he had to get more educated and meet the Midwife before he felt a more comfortable with it lol. My Midwife is actually a hour an a half away, there were none closer that did waterbirths and weren't skeptical because of my age. One actually said she didn't want me as a paitent because of it!  How rudddee! Also our Midwife is great and were all on the same page, last time we went we were there for a little over 3 hours! :) she knows Ian is a bit nervous about everything so shes always asking him if he has any questions or anything to say, i personally think its cute no clue why just makes me smile everytime lol. I might be a little disappointed if i had to have a c/s but it would be fine as long as everyone was okay! Especially our sammy! Thank you very muchh! Should i pump before i have her?  Or no

Don't like doctors much! LOL been misdiagnosed/treated like a moron/poked and prodded and handed big bills too often in my life I guess. We are definitely planning to work with a midwives' clinic about 45 minutes away that does water births and is next door to the hospital in case of complications. My partner's mom did home birth so we have lots of encouragement there. I say if that feels right and you have a good provider that you like, go for it!

I had a complete natural/drug free birth. It was at a hospital but attended by midwives. They are simply amazing and give you so much care and support compared to a regular doctor!
I read a lot beforehand. I had it stuck in my mind to go all natural. People thought I was crazy because my pain tolerance is quite low!!
I read up on the Bradley Method. It made a lot of sense to me! Read about all sorts of ways to keep calm and relaxed. The more educated you are about it, the more you can keep a grip on yourself during labour.
Don't be disappointed if it doesn't go your way though. Not everyone is a labour hero!!
Good luck!

Don't pump or do any kind of nipple stimulation before you are due to deliver, as this can cause preterm labor. Your body releases oxytocin with nipple stimulation.

I had a drug-free birth in hospital for my first, using a tub for much of my laboring but not for delivery. The water was very soothing and I am planning the same again. A friend of mine just had her second water home birth - she has a fantastic midwife (as it sounds like you have as well) who she relates well with. Since you're likely to have less nurses, etc available, I might suggest having a close friend/family member, or a doula present - it really helped during my long labor to be able to rely on the nurses sometimes and to let my husband have a bit of a break. I'm not sure how many people your midwife brings with her - our friend is a midwife herself and had some midwife friends present at each birth. Congrats!

i didnt do a home birth... i went over due and had a failed induction, then a c section (wasnt emergency just last resort)... which was all good.... but when i was labouring after getting induced i got to go in a tub for a while and can totally see why woman like their water births... due to being induced my contractions were insane and they wouldnt give me any more medication than they already had so they suggested the water (i wasnt far enough to get an epidural) and OMG it was amazing how much it helped lift the pain... so if i was to a natural home birth i would want a water birth :)
