how much weight did you gain?

how much weight did you gain?

im not really exactly sure how much ive gained because i saw my doctor for the first time at 12 weeks and my weight has always fluctuated. BUT, i guesstimated i started at about 114...normally i fluctuate between 110 to 117. ANYWAYS according to my estimate of 114 and the doctor's scale ive gained 32 pounds (im 34 w 5 d)..UM so this seems like a lot and i think i might start just using my weight scale at home because i think that the doctor's is pretty subjective because its all about who weighs you and how they do it (since they have to balance the scale)...last appt about 2 weeks ago i hadn't gained anything and now supposedly ive gained almost 10...what? so anyways how much weight did you ladies gain with your pregnancy and how easy was it to lose? everyone says ive gained all belly but i know shes not 32 pounds lol so im a little concerned. going on a diet starting now...and no more oreos. well maybe only at night but i just have to finish this pack. :)

They say up to 35 lbs is normal as long as you start with a normal healthy weight, which it sounds like you did.  I've always started out atleast a little overweight so I tend to gain less (thank God).  With my girls I gained between 20-25 lbs with my boys I've gained right aruond 15-17 lbs.  This time I lost weight in the beginning and haven't quite gained it all back yet.  I still have a couple pounds to go before I get to where I was when I got pregnant.

No that's perfect for your pre-pregnancy size. Do not cut back on what you're eating...most of what you're gaining now is baby's weight, so make sure and eat whenever you're hungry. yes it's best to make healthy choices (carrots instead of oreos) but don't cut back on quantity whatsoever.

I'm not too much help on this because I gained a TON of weight after my miscarriage in 2008 so when I conceived my daughter I was no longer 130lbs..and I had gained some before from being ill for a very long time. I lost 20lbs in the first trimester, and gained 18 back....and lost all of it in the delivery room. So i gained -2lbs with her...but I was overweight to begin with. I'm having trouble with weight gain with this pregnancy...I lost 16lbs first trimester, gained 5, lost all 5 and I just found out I lost 3 more...the baby's still growing but the doctor's put me on a higher-calorie diet which I just CANT DO..i'm NOT HUNGRY, lol.

anyway it's all different based on the person is my point AND the pregnancy...but for a girl of normal weight, 25-35lbs is the target weight gain for your pregnancy and you'll lose most of it in the delivery room due to baby, placenta, water, etc. So don't stress a lot of it will come off right away.

I was about 125-130 ...Ive gained 31 lbs so far...which my OB said is too much..but is normal these days, she said women gain between 30-60 lbs because of all the stuff they crave.

I lost 30 lbs with both of my pregnancies but that's because I threw up the entire pregnancy both times! I don't wish that on anyone!  It's sounds like you are on track to me :)

I didn't gain any weight when I was pregnant until I was 34 weeks and developed preeclampsia. Even then it was only like 8 lbs in water weight. My doctor told me that it was completely normal for me that some woman slim down everywhere else and gain in the belly. My baby was growing right on track so never worried about it. My doctor actually told m to consider myself lucky. I was induced at 37 weeks and when I went home I was -20lbs my pregnancy weight. 6 months later I'm at what I was before pluss maybe 5 lbs.

I am 25/26 weeks, and I have gained 16 pounds so far.
I am 5'5 and started off at 125, and I am now at 141.  I know it is scary my last doc visit I gained 8 pounds in one month.  :(
But, you and I are right on track to gain what we are suppose to.  Just as long as we stay within that healthy range it should be too hard to take off.  Also, this is the only time it is good for us to gain weight.  Have your nightly oreos.  I am sure just as long as you are not eating a pack a night it is perfectly fine.  My weakness is Breyers Snickers Ice Cream hehe.  I eat a cup full a night, but I figured I could easily kill the entire carton so I am doing pretty good...lol.  Get your nutrients and don't deprive yourself.  I have been walking a lot with the nice weather that has helped maintain my weight a little.  Hang in there you don't have too much longer to go then you can diet all you want :)

I gained about 30lbs. with my first son, and probably about 20 with my second - had water retention the first time and was mostly all belly with the second (and have since lost everything....and he's 12 weeks old tomorrow).  Keep in mind that it's not just baby weight:  the placenta, extra blood, extra water, etc. all weigh something!!

With my first I gained about 40 and with my second I gain a little less than 30. I think anywhere between 20-40 pounds for women of average weight to gain that much or so I have been told =) A lot of it will come off after the baby is born =)

thanks so much for all the responses!! :) you've all made me feel better,
i guess the main concern is that i'm only almost 35 weeks, so IF she makes it to her due date, i don't think it's going to be possible to keep the weight within 35 lbs. thanks for the suggestion on walking heatherLF16, i think i'm going to start that soon and hopefully that will help keep my weight gain low over the next few weeks. hopefully she won't hang out until her due date.
i'm not going to cut back on quantity, but i just need to make healthier choices from here on out. its good practice for after she comes anyways. :) hopefully the cravings for oreos will have gone by then.

I gained 30 pounds (6 pounds on the last two weeks, argh!) and by 2 weeks after giving birth I had already lost 25 pounds! so I have 5 more to go and I'll be back on my pre-pregnancy weight, yeah!

I started off at 110, and now im 142, so I have gained 32 lbs as well.. At first i was gaining like crazy and couldnt handle it, like i would gain anywhere from 6 to 9 lbs every appointment.  So i limited some things and now im doing great.  I set my goal for 35 lbs.  and So I have 3 more to gain.  and 2 weeks left.. yay!!  And lately I have only been gaining one or two lbs a week. So I should be perfect.  unless baby gets a major growth spurt in the next two weeks, but im hoping not to go two more weeks.. This weekend is my goal.. haha I better keep dreaming.. he seems pretty content where hes at..  haha but you already know all of this, cause we talk everyday, but i wanted to respond too..lol

I usually weigh 155-156 and when I went to Dr at 5wks I was 150lbs. I gained back to normal weight to 156 by 10 wks and was still there at 12wk appt. I went back to my 19wks appt and I was at 165. I gained 10lbs in 7 weeks. I haven't weighed myself since my 19wk appt and I don't go back till I'm 23wks.

I'm trying to stay with in that 35lbs range and I eat mostly healthy snacks and food. I have been craving fruits all the time. I eat veggies too. First 13wks I couldn't eat meat. I eat 3 meals a day and 3-4 snacks. When I got girl scout cookies I ate a whole box at once. I couldn't believe I did that but then again you can only get them once a year.

Good luck with your weight gain goal.

First baby- gained 50 lbs
Second baby- gained 24 lbs
Third baby- I think I gained around 29 lbs but I don't recall. You'd think I'd remember this one better since it was most recent but I really don't know.

I am only 29 weeks and I have already gained around 38 pounds! Everyone tells me that mine is all belly and I guess that it is staying right there but I feel like 38 is a lot! I started out around 124 and last Friday I weighed 162! I am really worried about losing the weight but the doctor I saw last Friday told me that it shouldn't be to bad losing it! I also worry that I could end up with preeclampsia because I have swelling in my feet and my blood pressure has been slightly higher than normal lately. I'm really hoping to not gain much more but I am sure that I will. I try to do better and eat healthier but it seems like I am hungry all of the time, I'm always busy and just having to eat whatever I can get, and I crave stuff that isn't the healthiest.
