how to get a v-bac and not re c section

my 1st pregnancy was 4 yrs almost 5 ago and i had a c section done in mexico because my baby was positioned side ways. Now im pregnant again and no dr. will do a v-bac they all wanna do a repeat c-section but befor my last c-section i had a ex ray (don't know if they do that here) to see if my pelvic hole was big enough for the babys head to fit and it was i had a cm of extra space on ether side so i can give birth vaginal but how do i get my dr. to at least consider it ?????

Do what is best for your baby.  If the doc says its not safe, I'm sure there are reasons.

The doctor will examine your c-section scar to see what type you had.
They will also evaluate the reasons why you had a c-section.

I had a c-section 5 years ago.  Last year with my doc (before I miscarried)  I talked to him about this.  I was told I was a candidate for vbac. I was told there is a chance of uterine rupture.  If this happes the baby needs out ASAP!!!
After he told me everything about me being a candidate for vbac, I asked him what his opinion was.  He said,"why take the risk.  You know the c-section is safe."

I tend to agree.  Why risk my babies life.  Although, a lot of women have wonderful vbac's I don't think I will op that route.  My c--section went fine.  the thought of all the alternatives scare the heck out of me.  I think I would be afraid to push, for fear of my scar ruptering.

I understand.  When I had my emergency c-section 5 yrs ago, I felt cheated.  I am curious about giving birth. However, a few days a bunch of episomoty & tearing posts scared me out of it.  I think I will take a c-section.

I'm sure your doctor will discuss all this with you.  how far along are you?  seen a doc yet?

If the only reason you had for the c-section was baby's position there should be no reason for you not to be able to have a VBAC. I'm  pregnant with my second child, 32 weeks 6 days, and I had a c-section with my first because he was breech.

I AM attempting a VBAC this time. You need to look up the pros and cons of each, there's a website ICAN type it into google and you can find it. It's about VBACs and such.

C-sections are just as risky as VBACs. They both have ups and downs, and both have risks. It's been so long since your c-section that your body has healed. Most drs are happy if you wait at least one year in between pregnancies to attempt a VBAC.

The c-section is harder on you, and I for one don't know why you wouldn't try for a VBAC if you had the opportunity. I suggest you try to find a dr in your area that will allow you to attempt a VBAC.

VBAC is safer both for mom and baby, there is less then a 1% chance of uterine rupture! Woman who have a bikikni cut throughout have the least chance of something goign wrong. You have a higher chance of bleeding out, and having a hystorectomy with a c-section then you do with a VBAC! Go to ICAN.org A c-section is major surgery and should not be a daily thing and only done when it is medically nessisary.

I am not sure why they did a x-ray either. There are plenty of woman who are told the baby is too big or their pelvis can not fit a baby and that fact is that is just not tru. Unless the bones where mishaped at birth or there has been an injury there is no reason why a woman cannot birth. Plenty of woman who ahve been told the baby will not fit have gone on later to vaginally deliever babies that were way bigger even by 5lbs bigger then the c-section baby. Also the x-ray was done when your body did not have the relaxen hormone that opens the pelvis and relaxes it for baby to fit.If they look at x-rays common that is too funny!

Now the reason you had a c-section was good! Transverse babaies rarely ever turn around and they can not come out side ways:) I had a medically nessisary one too with my 30 weeker who stopped moving 3 days after my water broke. She is fineand healthy.
I had a succesful VBAC 17  months later. Then 10 years later and in a differnt state and backwards place/mountians. I did not have the suoport for my VBAC and wanted to go to a different hospital 3 hours away. Then when it came down to it my DH was tired from the many car rides there with things only to stop when we got there and they induced me after my water broke. After having no drugs and more then 12 hours later my labor stopped and NO ONE was supporting me I felt like and I said fine for a c-section. I have had 4 premature babies before that, and his is the only birth experience I cry to think about! I know my body was fine and I was not even thinking c-section and happy laboring! I had my healthy baby taken to the nursery and did not see him for a while! He did nurse right away when I saw him but I was so hurt by the whole thing later on. I cry when I see his pictures or think of the day. That is wrong and I feel sad for him that I think bad of that day, and for me. birthing is so wonderful and it is good for any woman to know their body can do it!

dr's do not tell you if they pay the extra insurance for vbac, or if the hospital they go to allows it. go to the web site and learn more! know the risks involved with the c-section and look up the hospitals around you on there and it says if they have a vbac ban or defacto ban.

most important have faith in yourself and body! god made woman to birth babies!

I'm still scared ... either way.   There is a human growing inside me.  How can all these ladies be excited???  Don't get me wrong... I am too.  I'm just not excited about it comming out!
I hear about episomoties, tearing...  ruptures.  A long time for c-section to heal .. AHHHH!

Sorry.  I didn't mean to invade this thread.  I need a "I'm freaking out about this baby support group"   I think I may have issues.

vaccuum I sent you a msg about this, hehe...

dude I'm nuts (i need an "I'm a pain guru" support group)...but I thought that the whole labor and delivery process was AWESOME!!!!!!!!!!!!! i looked forward to it my entire pregnancy with my son and while I was afraid with my daughter because she was my first, I had a blast...even though I tore. The whole time I was having fun...and I know that's weird, but if you read my play-by-play when I was posting on here while I was delivering my son you'll see...it's really not bad at all.

anyway...

I would recommend talking to LosingMyMindInGA as well..she had to fight for her VBAC and got it and may have some really good advice!

First of all they can not LEGALLY force you into a c-section in the united states.  You should check out ICAN online.  Just go to google and type that in and it will give you a link to the website. I've had 5 VBACS and this last one I had to really put my foot down. I'll try to write more later, kinda in a hurry now.

I remember we had our last babies near each other, I had no idea nore was worried about a repeat VBAC either but had trouble finding a dr in my rural mountian area. I see you did get yours after ahving the same problems this time around.

It makes me cry, I never got mine:( I am so jealous and happy for you! Congrats on that and maybe if you could of been my cheering crowd with encouragement when it was goign on, ughh, this was my first birth I truly cry over! I swear next time I am hiding in a closet for the birth! Sorry not to scare anyone but you can see what not having support and the birth you dreamed of and planned for will do to a woman!

Ashelen I love giving birth too and the whole labor, I did the hgiest dose of pitocin with no drugs and was still laughing and smiling throughout! I have a high pain tolerance.hehe I never saw your post about gray but  I am sure it was nice to read!
