i wouldnt recomend taking clomid just so you can have twins and i dont think any doctor would prescribe it for this reason alone, twins happen when they are surpose to just be happy with any child you get and remeber that twins carry alot of risk also for you and them.
just be careful and talk to your doctor.

Clomid is not given out to random people so they can have twins or multiples. It is given to women who have a hard time conceiving.  NO doctor gives out clomid for the h#LL of it.

Both those posts said exactly what I was going to say, but I also wanted to add something since I am on Clomid now.  My RE is putting me on it to help me ovulate because I am not ovulating on my own.  I have read as much as there is to read on the drug and every sourse I've found have the same info about women taking Clomid when they don't need it.  That info simply states that the drug has NO effect on women who ovulate on their own.  So not only will a doc NEVER give it to someone who doesn't actually need it, it wouldn't even work anyway!  Not to mention taking Clomid does not mean you'll automatically have multiples.  Like another poster said, carrying multiples poses so many risks as well.  My older sister lost her twins at 23 weeks after going thru a c-section and for no reason other than a virus.

I am expecting twins thanks to fertility treatments.  I ovulate on my own every month, but just not a really "good" ovulation so my dr put me on clomid.  It did cause me to ovulate anywhere from 1-3 eggs each month.  Then, because of my age, I asked to gradually become more aggressive, and we added in low doses of injectibles.  Very low doses.  And bam, preggo, with twins.

My dr. considers twins a medical malfunction and counselled me very seriously about the risks of having a multiple pregnancy.  I didn't really want it to happen though, too scary.  I just didn't think it would happen.  I was having a hard enough time getting pregnant with one, much less two.  If I had it to do over, I wouldn't have been so aggressive and I would have been patient a little while longer.

Things are going fine, but I will admit, I was very scared at first.

Good Luck.  I hope your dearest wishes come true.

Well I read a crazy story about this tribe in africa. They have the highest concentration of twin pregnancy in the world. The drs say it's because of the yam rich diets they have so give it a shot and start eating lots of yams. Good luck.
