either way you looked at this election, history was bound to be made. whether americas first african american president, or americas first female vice president was elected to office. it def. shows america is headed in a new and different direction and i too am very hopeful and excited for our future as well as the future of our children!

I'm so excited & pleased with the outcome also, history has been made & I am truly proud of OBAMA for his presidency. I supported him from the beginning & I will never regret my decisions. I makes me cry all these happy tears, today is the start of something great. I agree John McCain did good on his speech. I told my husband that OBAMA would win bc I know it was time for a change. GOD is so GOOD!!!!!!!

OBAMA! OBAMA! OBAMA!

I cried last night when I watched the election!  I was so full of hope and pride for our country this morning I woke up early, happy and not tired even though I watched the speech live at 12:00!

by honey1982, Nov 05, 2008 04:15PM
me to i couldn't even go to sleep. i had to wake up at 5:35 am to get ready for work. and i was't at all sleepy. i am so proud as well. ironically every patient that i have come into contact with today have been obama supporters. but the nurse voted for john mccain. but she like obama as well. but history has been made i have my chicago suntimes and i'm gonna frame it so it doesn't get destroyed and when or if i have children i will let them look at it. they even have back in the day slaves and other local politicians dating back to the 1700s . how cool. some things that i didn't even know about. so yes i am proud.

I had to buy a paper this morning too...I just really felt like this was historic and I wanted my kids to be able to see the day an african american was voted president.  I had to be up at 6:30 but I woke up at 6:00 full of happiness!

Not to be the odd one out but not too thrilled about Obama. Not because of his skin color but because of his stance on very important issues. But life goes on and I'll be praying for him as he leads our country! I think it's cool that we finally have an African American prez and it'll be an interesting ride. Things will definitely change and hopefully it is for the better and not worse.

he is the BEST..MacCain is the one who was'nt ready and millions of people proved that yesterday ..and am sooo happy my kid is going to be born while an African American is the president ....it's only fair now you can say America got over the racism cause i still see the thing here and there...Congrats sweetie

U r being the odd one.......just to let u know........we as people of the African American race already knew that we would have people like u anyways,,, not trying to be mean but hell all these years all of the black race has been voting for white president but all of a sudden when a black educated young man wanna prove a point the white race want to get mad but im happy he's in office and yes i do believe that ur mad because of his race.......and have a great because im going to have the best 8 yrs of my life........

by teetee09, Nov 10, 2008 12:11PM
hope anyone doesnt get offend by my statment just trying to make a point just like everyone else..............

by Jame0223, Nov 10, 2008 01:11PM
I must agree with Joy. I wanted McCain to win, but hey its over and done with. I am not the kind of person to hold a grudge. I am not against a black person being president, I just didn't agree with some of his views and what he wants out of the country. I am a pretty conservative person! Oh well we lost, but now we do have to take a step forward and even though I didn't vote for him, I am willing to stand behind the president elect and wish him well!

teetee I don't want to get offended but I kind of am. You are saying that just because we didn't vote for obama means that we didn't want a black president..which may be true for some of the McCain voters, but I can vouch for myself and joy that it is not true at all. We just agreed with McCain more!

by Avanaar, Nov 10, 2008 01:39PM
I completely agree with Joy and Jame on this one.  We chose McCain not because we're racists and didn't want a black man as our President, but because we agreed with McCain's ideas, policies, and beliefs more than we did Obama's.  I, like Jame, do feel slightly offended that anyone would *assume* I was a racist just because of who I voted (or didn't vote) for.  So, teetee, just to remind you ...Don't Assume anything ...It makes an @ss out of U and Me.

I wish our President Elect well ...and I do hope that the next four years are productive ones for our country.

by sweetangel7, Nov 10, 2008 03:27PM
Um...I just wanted to point out that Joy specifically said she thought it was cool to finally have an African American president so I don't think any finger pointing was necessary.

by Jame0223, Nov 10, 2008 05:27PM
Thanks Avanaar...I don't really care what color skin our pres has as long and he's smart and knows what he's(or she!) is getting themself into...I just didn't think Obama had the experience...

by luv2bmommy, Nov 10, 2008 11:29PM
agree with joy n jame, dont like the outcome as much as a mccain victory but support our president regardless. and teetee i believe your comment was the only racist statement made here.
