just wodering...

I was just wondering how many of you who have experianced miscarriages saw a heart beat and then lost the baby.  Did anyone see a heartbeat and healthy baby around 8 or 8 1/2 weeks and then miscarry after that? with our miscarriage we went for our 1st u/s at 11 weeks and they couldn't even see the baby, they said it had stopped forming VERY early on...(like 3 weeks or so)  This pregnancy we will go for our first u/s on the 30th which will put me at 8 1/2 weeks.  I would like to know what the chances of me miscarring would be if we saw a strong baby and heart beat. I am mostly wondering because we dont want to share the news until we are pretty much in the clear which ideally would be 12 weeks but I show very early and i'm thinking won't be able to hide it that long, so if there is a good chance we will not miscarry after 8 1/2 weeks then we are going to plan to tell everyone then.  Sorry this is so long.....

I have had 2 miscarriages with 1 deceased.

The 2 miscarriages I wasnt far enough along to really see anything. But with my first child I carried her for 7 and a half months and went into pre term labor. She passed away 30 minutes after birth from a rare genetic disorder that cannot be tested for.

The lord had reasons for everything, and will never give you to much that you cant handle. Just keep your faith and all will be well.

Hey Rachie,
I saw my little mans heartbeat at 6 weeks via u/s and my doctor said the chances of miscarriage after seeing that the chances of miscarriage are significantly lower.  I began telling my family that I was preggers when I was 9 weeks, since I had a miscarriage previously I wanted to wait.

by KellyA74, May 05, 2008 10:13PM
I found that my twins had stopped growing at 7 1/2 when we went for an U/S at 9 weeks back in Dec......so we never saw heartbeats.......I just had an U?s at 8 weeks this past Thurs. and there was a strong heartbeat.  I asked the Midwife if the chances of M/C went down being we had seen the heartbeat this time....she said not until they see (or hear a heartbeat at 12 weeks.....so basically I think it's the 12 week mark that they say the risk goes down.......The wait STINKS...but you'll feel so much better after you DO hear a heartbeat!  :o)

Rachie when you see the heartbeat your risk of miscarrying goes down 10%.

I have a question for you aside from this---does your doctor have to prescribe clomid? There are people claiming to sell it online???

by rachie204, May 05, 2008 10:18PM
well i mean my doctor prescribed mine, but i have heard of people buying it off the internet...i guess you wouldn't truly know what you were getting though.  I have an extra months worth...want me to send it to ya... :)

by JoyRenee, May 05, 2008 10:27PM
Oh my goodness... I don't even know! I am not sure if clomid is what I need because I think it raises testosterone, which I don't need. Tell you what, let me research it some more and then I'll private message you, okay?!

by rachie204, May 05, 2008 10:32PM

seriously it's scary...order some clomid and someone send you some acid or something.  Or even worse a date rape drug and they have your address to.....wow :(

by JoyRenee, May 05, 2008 10:54PM
I'm giggling... let's see how far fetched we can make this one, eh?! LOL!

Okay based on everything I'm reading Clomid probably isn't what I need. It's going to turn me into a she-man for real! I'd have like an 8-pack. LOL!

I saw my baby's heart beat at 6wk and then at my 10wk u/s there was not a heart beat and the baby only measured 6wk 6d.  I had held off on telling people due to the progesterone problems but being so I had made it to 10wk and dr said everything was going good since I hadn't had any problems or spotting. I started telling people and then 4 days later I had the u/s. To have heard and seen the heartbeat and then to know it's no longer there hurt tremendously!

Hey girls,I have purchased clomid online before.as well as getting it from my doctors,as long as you purchase from a reconized company its fine....clomid can be used even if you do ovulate i find it gives me a better ovulation and stronger and healthy eggs..rachie204 was you taking clomid during the day or everning,i found taking it at night a little better...congrats again...

by rachie204, May 06, 2008 09:51AM
i took it at night because a friend told me the side effects wernt quite as bad if you slept through them...Of course some of the "side effects" may have been plain pregnancy symptoms.  I just didnt feel very good but the main thing was I was VERY moody which isn't like me at all....guess it could have been from either.  I didn't like it though, I was lashing out at my 4 year old, and my husband got the worst of it, but it seems to be better now.

by tarajanes, May 06, 2008 09:58AM
Yeah i found i was very moody..but i suffered bad headaches also...lucky my partner tried to take it with pinch of salt.bless him..but hey at least you got your pregnancy...

by rachie204, May 06, 2008 10:08AM

I saw my baby at 7 weeks and 5 days. I was spotting so I went in and there it was! The tech said that everything looked great! The heartbeat was in the high 150s. I got pics and everything. She said my cervix was closed and that it could be left over bleeding from implantation, which didn't really make sense. So I was happy with the news and called everyone to tell them...and two days later I miscarried. Devastating...I still have the pics from the first ultrasound in my purse...I have never taken them out, but I don't think I ever will.

by Brittny27, May 06, 2008 10:19AM
I have the pics from my 6wk u/s still and I haven't been able to look at them yet!  I know that someday when the pain is less I will be able to and be so thankful that I have the pics.

Even though at that stage it was just a blob with a little patter of a heartbeat showing. It's really not much to look at but I think I will find comfort in them anyways.

with my first miscarriage I hadn't even made it to my first OB appt when I started spotting, went to the ER and no HB...they told me to wait for my first appt which was 1 week later.  Got there and still no hb...I was almost 12 weeks but the baby only measured 9 wks 5 days.  I ended up with a d & c on taht one.

My stillborn we had an appt the day before hb was strong, all looked good...next day went into labor, got to L & D no HB...turned out to be cord strangulation

My last m/c I was very early on prolly only 5 -6 weeks when I started spotting.  I had only had a pos test a few days before.  Hadn't had an OB appt yet.  didn't get any u/s's, doc gave me a shot of progesterone but it didn't help...a few days later I m/c naturally.

omg I should be at 10 weeks now. I have had 3 miscarriages several years ago but still I am so scared of having another one. The heartbeat yesterday was 167 they said that was very strong. The small bleed I had at 6 weeks was improving they said not completely gone but looking alot better? I am so scared of losing this baby. I feel so bad reading everyone's stories of their losses. When I went in yesterday they said I was barely at 9 weeks when from my 1st u/s I should be at 10 weeks already. I am worried that's a bad sign the baby isn't growing on schedule. I just wanted to say I have had 3 miscarriages all very early along inbetween about 4-8 weeks I would say. I think your chances of going full term improves everyday...so just try your best and hope for the best have good thoughts.....Good Luck to everyone

I saw a heart beat at 6 weeks at 13 weeks had another ultrasound (IPS testing) and the baby had stopped developing at 8 wks 1 day.
I also know a woman who had an ultrasound at 11 wks 3 days (everything looked perfect) and on the 12 wk mark ended up miscarrying. So it's not untill you HEAR the heartbeat through the doppler (not on the ultrasound) usually around 12 weeks that the risk is lowered.
