I had my hcg checked yesterday and it was 271 and my progesterone was 12.4 I am 4w4d. How do these numbers sound? My doc is calling in progesterone pills to start at night since my levels were low normal. Has anyone else had low progesterone in the beginning and went on to have a healthy pregnancy? I have had 2 m/c in the last year.I have been diagnosed with 2 copies of MTHFR and am currently on Prenate Elite and a baby aspirin daily.

I take baby aspirin and was on prometrium - progesterone for the first 13 weeks. I took 200mg orally as a 'just in case' - I'm 20 weeks and doing just fine!  (I'm nervous as hell every day- I too had two miscarriages - but so far so good!)

Here's a chart for HCG levels, yours look just fine.

Guideline to hCG levels during pregnancy:
hCG levels in weeks from LMP (gestational age)* :

3 weeks LMP: 5 - 50 mIU/ml
4 weeks LMP: 5 - 426 mIU/ml
5 weeks LMP: 18 - 7,340 mIU/ml
6 weeks LMP: 1,080 - 56,500 mIU/ml
7 - 8 weeks LMP: 7, 650 - 229,000 mIU/ml
9 - 12 weeks LMP: 25,700 - 288,000 mIU/ml
13 - 16 weeks LMP: 13,300 - 254,000 mIU/ml
17 - 24 weeks LMP: 4,060 - 165,400 mIU/ml
25 - 40 weeks LMP: 3,640 - 117,000 mIU/ml
Non-pregnant females: <5.0 mIU/ml
Postmenopausal females: 1 to 1.5 ng/ml

Day 15-28 2-28 ng/ml

BTW my levels at 6 wks 2 days my progesterone was 12.5.  My doc did not prescribe the progesterone however I guess becuase myHCG was at 61219.  I am now 17 weeks pregnant.   I don't know what "2 copies of MTHFR" means but I hope that this progesterone and the other things you are doing will help to ensure you have a healthy full term pregnancy

at 4weeks, my hcg was 387 and my progesterone was 28.7. however theres always a huge range in pregnancies as indicated in the chart LosingMyMind posted. at 5 weeks, my hcg was 9227. so mine were on the high side. the main factor is that they actually double. i wouldnt focus too much on the initial number. your Dr is obviously taking precautions with your progesterone by giving you supplements, which is definitely a good thing. and your levels are in the right range, so thats a plus also. try not to worry yourself. good luck, and enjoy your pregnancy! take care.

Thank you ladys I am having my repeat hcg this am and hoping for at least 542 or higher since my last one 48 hours ago was 271. So please keep your fingers crossed for me. I also started 200 mgs of progesterone last night vaginally.

Don't be surprised if your blood levels don't reflect a dramaticly higher progesterone level. From what others have posted when you take it vaginally the progesterone goes into where it needs to be - your uterus - and takes longer to get to the blood...  If that makes sense.  Hope all is well!
