no water at 32 weeks but sent home

by pjm_12, Aug 17, 2008 02:53AM
I am 33 weeks and had a scan this week which showed no water around the baby, however after having swabs and blood taken to check for infection was told to return in a week for another scan - just to wait and see. Is ths safe - i'm worried about my baby!!!!

that sounds wrong.... id go to a different hospital, usually if you lose any fluid they freak out, having no fluid at all.... and them sending you home seems really wrong to me

i agree with shadowserpent... usually if you do not have any fluid around the baby they freak out and talk about delivering the baby early. . i would go to a diffrent doc about this. the same thing happend to my mom when she was preg w/my 9yr old sis. she went in for an ultrasound she had to have one every week to monitor how much fluid she had. and when she went in for a regular u/s at 7.5 months they kept her there and told her she had to deliver the baby that day because its dangerous to keep them in your stomach for longer w/ no fluid or not enough.

i agree with shadow and betty....i've NEVER heard of them sending someone home....you're at a point now where you'll have a preemie but the baby is pretty much developed.....i think you need to try another dr or another hospital....i did a search with "no amniotic fluid 33 weeks" and practically every other forum, shows women who say they are being induced w/in 3-5 days after discovering there's not enough, or no fluid at all present.....so something is definitely up, and i'd hurry for another opinion.....

You should go to a different hospital.... The risk of infection without fluid is ver high.... Please go somewhere else and keep us posted.
