only 8 days left and still no name.....

by kennedydp5, Jun 05, 2008 09:17PM
well i only have 8 days left until my c-section...  and i'm frustrated b/c we still haven't been able to agree on a name for our little boy!  has anyone else had this much trouble being able to name one their little darlings???  i've put a bunch of names out there but dh really doesn't like any of them!  i really really don't want to name him after dh ONLY b/c he is named after his dad... and i don't want our only son to be named after my FIL!  the only name left on our list that we both still agree on is Nolan.  but i still just don't think its right for some reason.  i guess i'm just venting a little and maybe open for suggestions?  we're trying to stick w/ an irish name, but nothing too off the wall or nothing he would get beat up for!!!  :)

I named my son Avery.... I got the name from Charlotte's Web... he is almost four now and he loves his name.... Good luck!

by kennedydp5, Jun 05, 2008 09:35PM
i love that name, too!  my cousin named her son Avery.  i hope we agree soon... it wasn't this hard w/ our girls!

by babyscience, Jun 05, 2008 10:47PM
It will come to you.  We didnt name Ethan until a week before he was born and I know many people that dont name their baby until they see them.  So dont feel bad, but it is very stressful!  I forced DH to decide on something and Ethan wasnt on our list, but I liked it from the beginning, he didnt...but all his friends did so we went with that, since it went well with our last name.

I am having that problem with DH......we r having a girl, but not till sept.  i have 2 boys, Brandon and Dylan.....he wants to name her Brooklynn, I want to name her Adriana.  Then maybe I thought Londynn was kinda cute...UGH.....seriously I didnt have this much trouble with my boys.  if this baby was going to be a boy I liked Hayden and maybe Shawn or Ethan.  Good luck.  maybe you should both pick one or two and when he comes out you will prob just know!

by BTS1022, Jun 05, 2008 11:00PM
My DH was the same, we agreed instantly on a girl name if we were to have a girl, but didnt like any of the boys names I had liked, so I chose 2 names I absolutly loved and made him choose between the two. I told him he had no choice but to choose one name out of the two that I had picked, and either way wether he liked it or not, I would choose one for the baby reguardless of his thoughts.

He chose one of my names I picked, and we have been very happy about it ever since.

by kennedydp5, Jun 06, 2008 07:48AM
actually, some of the names ya'll have mentioned are some names that i've brought to dh's attention that i liked and he's turned them down...  last night i told him i like the name Caleb, completely forgetting that he plays football w/ someone w/ that name...  and of course that's the reason he used to say say no to it!  i don't want to not be able to use a name i like just b/c he knows someone by that name...  that's silly to me!  if that was the case then we wouldn't be able to name him anything b/c of how many people he plays football with!!!!!

what do you guys think of the name Caleb?  our last name is Kennedy...

I had the same problem with our 2nd son. He dfidnt get a name untill 20 mins after he was born!! We had 2 names that we both agreed on , neither whitch I really like much, but they were ok:( My oldest son who was almost 3 years old was in the room when his brother was born...after he was cleaned up my hubby asked him what his little brother should be named and he said Dunter!! He was trying to say Hunter but couldnt quite say it, lol! We desided then and there to name him Hunter:)
I was so stressed up to that point..I didnt ever think I would find the perfect name but we did, Hunter suites him perfectly!!
My oldest is named Tristan Jamison and than of course there is Hunter Jamison and im am 28.2 weeks along with our 3rd boy Dalton Jamison. Can you guess where the Jamison came from ?? LOL! Unfortunitly we can stop now...It was better than doing Jamison Jr and the 2nd and 3rd, lol.
If you like any of the names feel free to use them I hope that it helps:)
Other names that I absolutly love are-
Grayson
Dawson
Trenton
Conner
Austin
My goddness I think I could go on and on....

by BTS1022, Jun 06, 2008 10:16AM
I made hubby decide between Conner and Colten, and he didnt like the name Colten because he had a friend who was a dork named that lol, so he had no choice but to go with Conner. We got Conner's middle name from DH's dad which is McKinley, so it is Conner McKinley Sizemore. DH still asks time from time if I really want to name him conner lol, but the name suits him so far and we have got used to calling him by the name.

Id say choose 2 names and make him choose 1 out of the 2 Like I did, he will eventually come around to the name you choose, especially once baby is born, he will forget every reason why he didnt want to name his son Caleb.

thanks guys...  i just don't understand how someone can be soooooo against certain names!  one thing he is definately against is using a unisex for a boy.  i've mentioned a few to him that just happen to be that type of name and he just refuses to do it!  2 of our girls have unisex names (riley and peyton).  i just hate how its so hard to name a boy these days...  i mentioned to the nurse yesterday about the name Liam and she kinda hesitated and then said well you want a strong name...  geez thanks lady!!!  so that one is definately off the list!  one of our nephew's is named Connor so that has to be off the list too even though i think that would be one he may have agreed on...  this is killing me!!!  lol

by michelle148, Jun 06, 2008 10:28AM
Im really into the names Luca and Leo at the moment for boys and Chloe for a girl. Unfortunately im not pregnant yet so i cant get any nearer to deciding on names! Good luck though and let us know what you decided or should i say agreed on in the end!

i like the name logan but that is already taken in our family too!  i guess that's one reason why this is so hard!  luckily we had 3 girls first and we will only have 1 boy to name b/c i would've hated going through this more than once!  when we were pregnant w/ our 1st i tried to start picking some names before we knew what we were having and he turned down every boy name then too.  after that i refused to even start thinking of boy names until we knew what we were having!!!

by chitten, Jun 06, 2008 10:42AM
What about Oscar?? I kinda like the old style names just now.

I like Brodie too - Its Scottish so might sound strange to people who have never heard of it before.

Or Rhys??? Anton?????

My little cousins are called Conner, Jack, Reigan and Fraser - I like them all but couldnt have a name that was already in the family. (I have 34 cousins which makes it difficult lol)

Maybe the nurse meant her comment in a good way because Liam means 'unwavering protector'.

Aidan - (AY-den) Anglicized version of the ancient Irish boy name, Aodhán. Derived from the Old Irish word aedh, meaning 'fire'. An even earlier Irish version, Áedán, was the name of twenty-one Irish saints, including Saint Áedán of Iona. In art Áedán is usually represented as a stag, a reference to the legend that he saved a deer that was being hunted by making it invisible.

Cameron, Brendan,Dylan...obviously my first choice would be Aidan...Not that there's anything wrong with any other name just my personal liking =)

by Jame0223, Jun 06, 2008 10:57AM
I don't know...but I will just name a few if that helps

Gunner
Ryker
Conlan
Dane
Drake
Jayson
Rory
Barrette
Ethan
Jayden
Gavin
Tristan
Mason
Cole
Gage
Kaden
Steven or Stephen
and it goes on and on...lol

My husband is kinda picky so I KNOW I'd never get him to agree to it...when I finally get my bfp I'll probably be on here all the time trying to get help with names that we can both agree on!  Its funny because if I say I don't like a name he picks he acts really sad, suprised and upset but he's pretty firm on his likes and dislikes and is very honest with me when he doesn't like the names I pick...=)  Love him lots though!

by kennedydp5, Jun 06, 2008 11:19AM
thanks for some of the suggestions...  i wrote a few of them down that i hadn't thought of to look up the meanings of them.

chitten- i like the name brodie, too...  but of course dh turned it down!  dude, you have 34 cousins?!?!  holy cow!!!!  :)

sweetangel-  your dh sounds just like mine, except mine won't even pick a name of his own!!!  i've always comprised a list and he's turned them down.  but like your's he says when he likes one and definately tells me when he doesn't!!   lol

by Cheesecake7, Jun 06, 2008 11:25AM
If we have a boy we are going to name him Maddox.

by kennedydp5, Jun 06, 2008 11:33AM
i actually had maddox on my list (and mason too) and dh said no :(

by blueeyedtabbycat, Jun 06, 2008 11:38AM
what names does he have on his list???

by Michele, Katy, TX, Jun 06, 2008 11:38AM
I was like that with my 3rd.  She was a girl and I had it down to Rachel and Elizabeth.  I really like Rachel and my husband really like Elizabeth.  I told my husband that we could do Elizabeth and he said no.  He said that we agreed that if it was a girl I would get to name it and if it was a boy that he would get to choose the name.  So, we went with Rachel for that one.  And I was literally signing her name on the birth certificate as they were booting me out of the hospital.  The birth certificate lady was so annoyed with me.  Ha ha!  But we have had 2 girls since then so needless to say, my husband got his Elizabeth for the next one :)

by rachie204, Jun 06, 2008 11:43AM
My sons name is Jeremiah,
I love the name Nolan....If we have a boy this time I like the name Landon and hubby likes Parker

by kennedydp5, Jun 06, 2008 12:07PM
blueeyedtabbycat- see that's why i get so frustrated...  he doesn't have a list!  i make the list and then he tells me yes or no and that''s how we narrow it down.  he won't ever even tell me where he wants to go out to eat.  he always says he doesn't care but really he does he just doesn't ever want to say it first i guess.  maybe that's it w/ the names too...  idk!

rachie- i like the name Nolan, too...  its been down to that or Liam for the longest time.  and then at the beginning of last week dh said he wanted to add another name (although he won't say what).  then i'm the one that said i didn't want Liam anymore and now, well.........  we're stuck!!!

michelle, katy, tx- we know this is our last and will be our only son...  so dh won't get another chance to name a boy.  maybe that's another reason this is so frustrating!

by blueeyedtabbycat, Jun 06, 2008 12:19PM
Hmm no list.......well do your girls have any names that they like?? Maybe you can give them the name that you really like and than they can bug your hubby untill he agrees to the name:) It might be worth a shot......

by kennedydp5, Jun 06, 2008 12:35PM
lol...  i actually tried that this morning w/ my girls!!!  we're picking up dh from the airport this afternoon and i wanted them to do that.  they've known for a while that we've been considering Nolan so that's the name that's stuck in their heads.  i gave them a couple more names this morning and asked if they liked them and they no...  my oldest told me that Caleb was a girl's name... lol.  and our middle pretty much just always agrees w/ what the older one says!!!

i've made a new list w/ some names on it and their meanings and origins and i'm gonna tell dh when we pick him up that it has to be one of these b/c i'm done w/ looking for more!
