periods after medical abortion

by ym30ftworthtx, Jan 08, 2008 11:54AM
I had a medical abortion done on 11-15-07 with no complications. On December 24, 2007 I started spotting and began what I think is my period on December 30th of 07. It is now January 8th of 08 and I am still bleeding. I am worried because I saw a pretty big size blood clot this moring. Is it normal to bleed this much? I am really worried.

what do you mean by "medical" abortion?  How far along were you?

Hi,

A medical abortion, is not done under a GA, it's an induce labour.

I had one 5 mths ago due to abnormalities.

Yes it is usual to bleed for a good 4-6 wks after.

Hope that helps

I looked at that website that you suggusted and that is a terribly biased website. She posted this for help and all you did was send her a link to a website full of pro-life propaganda.

after my miscarriage i was a fiend to find info on what could have happened to me and every website i went to called miscarriages abortions.  Even my what to expect book calls them abortions in one part, so maybe she did not mean abortion and was using the "clinical" term, since it is abortion.  We also do not know her circumstances.

Is that what my daughter's birth was called ? Wow.. i didn't know that... I mean they induced labor with me, and she was born still born... But that was because of my ex.... hmmm. I didn't know that... And yes, you are right.. When you come into a forum where woman who are TTC or are pregnant, and mention abortion..... It's a touchy subject....

by leighanne143, Jan 27, 2008 02:05PM
i was shocked when i looked up things about my miscarriage and many sites called in an abortion.  I kept thinking, but i had a miscarriage.  i guess we do not realize the clinical terms that are used often.

I was 5 months pregnant with Hailley and my ex pushed me down the stairs.. She had a brain bleed and I was induced with her .. I gave birth to her and she was still born..... That's what happened.. But I can't believe it's considered an abortion... In some people's minds...

i usually try and keep my opinions to myself about such touchy subjects...for the record I am a Christian and I feel that taking a life should not be a choice.  I feel that is someone is going to have sex they need to either keep their child or place it for adoption.  Of course medical reasons and rape may or may not be a different case.  As for the original poster of this question I agree that we do not know the whole situation as if it were medical or other.  But I have to say that calling JoyRenee out like that was very childish and uncalled for on you end. It was very tacky and I would be ashamed if I had said something like what you just posted.  This is a pregnancy form and if someone has had an "abortion" for medical reaons they should clarify, if it was pure choice they should have enough respect to not post here and look for another forum.  Also I do not know JoyRenee personally but judging by the fruit of her character I have never been given any reason to think that she is not a Christian...nor that she has "turned anyone away"

Ok, so I was going to leave this alone but I just can't help myself.  Sigh..I totally agree with rachie204.  I am one to say something to someone if they chose abortion.  I am totally against abortion.  I was not going to post to the original poster because I was not sure myself what Medical Abortion was.  But, it did seem to be "NOT HER FAULT" so I left it alone.  I do believe this is the "Pregnancy under 34" forum so abortion questions need to be made on an abortion forum.  That's all I had to say...

by judylacar, Jan 27, 2008 08:07PM
I agree and I will be the first one to say that Joy Renee is the first woman that I met from here and though she, like all of us, let our beliefs be known when it comes to this subject, has not ever flat refused to offer some kind of info or help, regardless of what they are asking about. I try like many other ladies to stay out of topics like this, but when you just went thru a miscarriage and you hear or read about someone CHOSING to kill their baby ( I am not talking about being medically needed ), it gets under my skin. They have to remember what forum they are writing in on and if they are wanting support for having a chosen abortion, they need to find a support forum or group for that, but I have not seen that kind of thing right here.
