So I have a quick question, I have been doing alot of reserch about the possibility of me having twins becasue my boyfriend has a fraternal twin and his has some older sisters that are also twins (fraternal). What is the likelyhood that I can get pregnany with twins? Has anyone experianced this or have a clue? By the way if I end up pregnant again this will be the third time, the firstFirst progesterone mc10 First progesterone mc5 First-progesterone vgs 100 First-progesterone vgs 200 First-progesterone vgs 25 First-progesterone vgs 400 First-progesterone vgs 50 First-testosterone First-testosterone mc was a miscarraige singleton and the second was a singleton also. Am I pushing the odds or I won't have them? By the way I think that I might be pregnant now, when I assume it I am usually dead on but I won't know for sure until I reach 40 days past due. I think that I am due on the 17 or around the 20th. So we'll see.
Twins run in my mom's side. I'm not sure of which kind. But it SEEMS to skip generations (a Great, great, Great aunt had triplets even.)
And mymom's generation didn't have twins.
So maybe I'm in line...
However, you can always hope that your going to have twins.
by the way, if I were you I'd test at 10 days past.
I agree with martika....it would have to run on your side of the familyBirth control and family planning Choosing a primary care provider Ewing’s sarcoma Family troubles - resources. My grandmother had fraternal twins (my uncles) and my mom has been known to release more than one egg each month (one time even 3) but has not had twins. I would have the possibility of carrying twins one day but haven't so far.
But it can always happen! Ya never know! =)
the twin "gene" is all up to momma. if there are no twins on mommas side chances are you won't have them. unless you're over 35 which then chances go up or are on fertility medications. hubby and i had twin boys and there is not a single set of twins on his side. well not till now. they run rampant through my family. on both sides. my mom and my dads.
so unless you've got the twin gene on you're side you bf could have 10 sets of twins in his family and it wouldn't matter.
I recently discovered that i was pregnant with twins and little did i know they do show up in my family sometimes, I do however agree that most of the time they skip a generation but of course not always. You can't control if you get pregnant with them or not so all you can really do is wait!!
Hey, sorry I just got abole to check the site. Bt I wait 40 days past due because I simple go by the length of time I was past due when I foun out I was pregnant with my son. With both my miscarriage and my second birth I just knew that I was pregnant when it happened. It was weird! Sometimes I check earlier and sometimes I wait. It is just easier to check once when I am more likely to be expected then just late by a couple of days. So 40 days have been my magic number.. I hope this answers your question.
By the way thanks all for al of the responses, you have really elped me out a bit. Althoug I thought that it had alot to do with the moms side of the family but I have an Aunt that had fraternal twins on my moms side of the family and none of my aunts or uncles are twins. So it was kind of confusing to me. But thank you all for the answers
