pregnant after a miscarriage

by wendysculy, Feb 13, 2009 03:38PM
I am now pregnant after I had a miscarriage in october.  in dec I thought that I wa pregnant but was informed that my hormones were from the first pregnancy.  So I have had 3 cycles since my miscarraige but the last cycle last 35 days.  when I calculate my cycle to see how far a long I am should I put 28 days (because that is what I usually am) or the 35 days. I know that this sounds dumb but I miscarriages last time at 7weeks 5 days, so if I use 28 days then I am 6 weeks but if I use 35 days then I am 8 weeks. how can I tell?

There's kind of no way to tell until you have an ultrasound and then the dr will be able to  measure the baby and try and see how far along you'd be.  If you've had multiple cycles I'd go with whatever your typical cycle length was before your m/c (so sorry).  But that's just my guess...

When was your last period, just count from then dont shorten the cycle since you concieved in cycle with 35 days.you most likly ovulated later than normal, this happens alot following mc.if you last had cycle in jan you would only be 5-6 weeks.
congrats.

Only a sonogram can show for sure.  I had a m/c in late September.  It took until Oct. 22 for my hCG levels to drop to zero.  Then, in Nov. I took a positive pregnancy test.  My doc did a sonogram to estimate how far I was and calculated my due date.  Based on my due date, my date of conception was Oct. 28.  Go figure!!

If your doc knows your situation they may be willing to do a sono right away.  Mine had me come in the day I called, w/out an appointment (w/my other 3 kids!), for a sono just to give me peace of mind.

Good luck!
